Text: Est. 6: 7-9
“And Haman answered the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor, let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and a horse on which the king has ridden, which a royal crest has placed on its head. Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’”
A celebration is an event to honour someone, to be celebrated is to be honoured, may you receive honour this year in Jesus name. People can decide to celebrate themselves by arranging for their own celebration – they plan the event themselves, they invite people to come and celebrate them. But it is more glorious when people on their own, without your prompting make arrangement to celebrate you all expenses paid, you don’t get to spend a dime. That is the type of celebration that God arranges for His children whenever He is out to celebrate them. Once again, to someone reading this, heaven will arrange your celebration in Jesus’ name.
Our anchor text is a record of the story of how God arranged for the celebration of a man named Mordecai, a godly man, devoted to the things of God and to the preservation of the people of God, a man who will not compromise his stand in God for anything. He had been very helpful to the king by foiling a plot by two of the king’s eunuchs to assassinate the king, such an act of bravery and loyalty should be rewarded, but Mordecai was not rewarded and nobody, not even Esther was able to bring the matter to the king’s attention for Him to do the needful. At the fullness of time, God personally stepped into the matter, just as He will step into the matter of someone reading this right now in Jesus name. The king became restless one night and could not sleep and for some reasons which will not be unconnected to God’s divine leading, he asked that the book of records be brought and still under God’s direction he read the record of what Mordecai did. For the first time perhaps, the worth of what Mordecai did became clear to him and was surprised and maybe even embarrassed that he has not been rewarded and so he arranged for Mordecai to be celebrated for one day as a means of rewarding him. The details of the events planned for the celebration is what we find recorded in our anchor text above.
As God’s children, just as He did for Mordecai, God seeks for the right opportunity to arrange for us to be celebrated. There is no child of God, who walks faithfully with the Lord whose time of celebration will not come. That time came for Jesus on that day when He rode triumphantly into Jerusalem (Matt. 21: 1-11), and if you are a child of God, walking with Him faithfully, then your own celebration is on the way. This celebration is not necessarily a onetime event, but can be a lifetime event as long as you remain faithful in your walk with God.
When God decides that it is time for you to be celebrated, He kills whatever opposition that may arise from the enemy to block the celebration just as he did in the case of Mordecai. If Haman had his way, never in his lifetime will he approve or support any move for Mordecai to be celebrated, if he knew that the king was planning such a thing, he will certainly do all that he can do to frustrate it. Who knows, perhaps he was even the reason why Mordecai was not rewarded initially. But in this story of Mordecai we learn that every child of God will have his day, when God will arrange for him/her to be celebrated and when that day comes, no Haman will be able to stop it, they just won’t have the opportunity – somehow God will silence them, and may even use them to head the planning committee for your celebration and to see to the physical implementation of all that is planned. That was what He did for Mordecai, his arch enemy Haman who will probably rather die than see Mordecai celebrated was the one that God commandeered through the king to plan the event and also to personally carry it out. You can imagine how sad and how depressed Mordecai will be on that day, it was a day of pain and sorrow for Him and that is how your day of celebration will be also for all those who stand as adversaries to it in Jesus name.
So, remain steadfast in God, immovable and always abounding in the work of the Lord, never be discouraged, your time of celebration is around the corner. Shalom.
