Goodday guys, its danbrilliant again. Today we'll be discussing about falling. Read and learn.
Let's go!
Text: 2 Kings 2: 2, 4
“One day Israel’s new king, Ahaziah, fell through the latticework of an upper room at his palace in Samaria and was seriously injured............. Now, therefore, this is what the LORD says: You will never leave the bed you are lying on; you will surely die.”
A fall is a bad thing whenever it happens because it can cause serious injury and this can be a terrible thing because some injuries can stay with a person for life due to the fact that it refuses to heal, some injuries will heal eventually but they leave the victim with a terrible scar that he /she carries for life. Beyond the issue of injury, a fall can be so bad as to lead to death. According to the account recorded in the Acts of Apostles, it was a fall that killed Judas Iscariot (Acts 1: 18), also it was a fall that killed Eli (1 Sam. 4: 18). There are people even in our world today who suffered terrible fall and did not live to tell the story, some who lived are still bearing the injury of the fall till date, even though the fall happened a long time ago.
A fall however is not only of the type described above, people can fall in business, they used to have a successful and thriving business empire and all of a sudden the business just goes down to the point that people don't hear about it again. There are many businesses like that, they were once household names in the society but now we don't hear about them again. People can fall financially, they used to be very prominent among the rich people in the society but suddenly the wealth disappeared and things become so bad that they can no longer afford the luxury lifestyle they were living before, some of them end up committing suicide as a way to escape from the shame of their fall. People can fall in their career, there are many musicians, actors, actresses that were at one time at the top of their profession and so were well known in the society, but suddenly you don't hear about them anymore, not because they are dead but because they are no longer able to command the success they enjoyed in the past.
Samson was a champion, a hero, you will not be wrong to call him a living legend. His uniqueness was his strength, he had strength like no other and the show of that strength, the things he did with that strength were truly phenomenal but his lack of control for loving strange women eventually cost him his strength and he fell from the height of grace to the depth of ridicule, for someone reading this, I pray for you that you will not go the way of Samson in Jesus name.
In life, there will always be occasions to fall, there are many traps, snares and unseen obstacles on our way some of them are natural and some are laid up for us by enemies and agents of the devil who just delight to see us fall, apart from the fact that a fall will provide some form of setback to us in the pursuit of our purpose. This world is one large field full of landmines that will explode on our faces and do us harm if we should mistakenly step on them, no one can be so clever, so perfect, so capable on his own to successful avoid a fall all his life. Unless the Lord helps, it is a matter of time everyone will fall in one area or the other. As children of God we have assurance from scriptures that one of the benefits of our connection to God is that He keeps us from falling, such that with His help we are able to go through this life unstained with sin (Jude 1: 24). Beyond keeping us from falling spiritually, God also keeps us from falling in all other areas of life – financially, maritally, healthwise, emotionally, career wise and so on. Psa. 121: 3, assures us that He will never allow our feet to be moved, in other words He would not even allow us to stumble, so falling is out of the question and even if it happens that you stumble, you will never fall (Psa. 37: 24)
But if you are reading this and you have for some reason experienced a fall in some or so many areas of your life that can happen for some many reasons, the primary reason being sin. But even at that if you are willing to repent of your life of sin, God is able to turn that fall into an opportunity that will translate to greater lifting for you. People can fall for so many other reasons apart from sin, whatever may be the reason for the fall, understand that the fall is not total, you may be down but you are not out – “do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.” (Mic. 7: 8). All you need to do is to make sure that your fsith in God is intact and you will rise again, the bible gives assurance of that. It doesn’t matter how many times you fall as long as you remain in God, you will rise again, it is the wicked, that is, unbelievers that should not hope to rise again when they fall – “For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.” (Prov. 24: 16)
Are you standing take solace in the fact that with the help of God you can remain that way all your life and in case you are fallen, God can raise you up again, if you allow Him. Remain blessed. Shalom.
