Text: Rom 10: 17
“Consequently faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” (NIV)
“The point is: before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s word is preached, there is nothing to listen to” (MSG)
In one of Kenneth Hagin’s sermons, he said: When we understand how faith comes, acting on our faith and receiving from God becomes simple. God made faith easy to understand – it’s in the Word.
Our text says faith comes by hearing and listening to the word of God.
In other words faith comes through hearing, but not just hearing anything, but by hearing the word of God. Now if it is the hearing of God’s word that brings faith, then abstinence from hearing the word of God therefore will mean that faith will be absent.
And we know that nature abhors vacuum, so when faith is absent, fear becomes present. It is either you have faith in you or you have fear in you, both cannot be in you at the same time. So when faith is absent in you, then fear will be present.
To have faith and to increase in faith therefore, you must explore every possible channel to access the word of God and effectively engage each of them. Some of the available channels to access the word of God includes:
Sermon
Bible Study (Private and Corporate)
Bible Teaching
Even with the lockdown of churches, as a church we make the word of God available through all these channels via youtube, facebook and telegram. It is very important that you take advantage of these channels to hear the word of God necessary to inject faith into your life and also to help you increase in faith, do not let the devil deprive you of these opportunities. Prayer points
1. Ask for forgiveness for the time that you have walked in unbelief
2. Ask God to help you overcome every power that is out to disconnect you from the available channels to hear God’s word.
3. Pray that the Lord will remove every barriers to faith in your life
4. Pray that the Lord will take you to new levels in your walk of faith.
5. Pray that God will help you through the life of faith to please God in every area of your life. Because without faith you cannot please God.
6. Commit your personal journey for this second half of the year into God's hand. Remember that it is important that you ask in faith
