Nose-rhinoplasty surgery is an operation performed by a plastic surgeon or an ENT surgeon. They can also perform this operation together. Corrective rhinoplasty, ie plastic surgery of the nose, is a method with the help of which it is possible to influence the change in the appearance of the nose. Nose plastic surgery is performed for both medical and aesthetic purposes, ie in order to improve the function of the nose, change its size or shape. People who have a breathing problem, ie. by deviation of the nose, as well as persons who are not satisfied with its appearance may decide to reduce the nose or any other correction by surgery. Nose reduction or other nasal correction can be done in conjunction with other surgeries, such as eyelid surgery, breast augmentation, neck liposuction, or any other facial intervention. If you had a desire to do e.g. nose reduction and lip augmentation - one operation will save you both time and money! When it comes to plastic nose surgery, the consequences are visible in the form of swelling and bruising, sometimes peeling of the skin is possible, as well as bruising under the eye, and nasal surgery makes recovery a long process - sometimes several months. Still, the results are worth it. Surgical deformities of the nose Nasal deformities most often occur as a consequence of an injury, but they can also be congenital - congenital. Nasal deformity surgery may aim to correct the external appearance of the nose (aesthetics) and / or correct the nasal septum. Some of the indications that indicate that you are a candidate for rhinoplasty are: * that your nose is too big for your face, * that there is kyphosis - you have a bumpy nose, * to have a long nose, * that your nose is wide or like a saddle, * to have a wide tip of the nose or a wide alarm base, * lowered or raised tip of the nose, * or your nose is asymmetrical and deviated. When can nose surgery be done? Nose surgery is performed only when the growth of the facial skeleton is completed, which means that the operation is performed only at the age of 18. However, this does not apply to operations that are not of an aesthetic nature, and when there is a problem with breathing or a nose injury that cannot wait. A special area in resolving nasal deformities is represented by a group of patients who underwent cleft lip and palate surgery. In them, the operation is performed by an incision at the tip of the nose and the position of the cartilage at the tip of the nose is corrected. In these patients, the operation is performed at the age of 17-18. Preparation for nose correction Preoperative preparation includes imaging of the nasal bones and nasal septum as well as nasal and throat swabs. At the examination, you will give anamnestic data about diseases or surgical procedures that you have had before, nose injuries or drug allergies, diabetes, hypertension, anemia, chronic infections. It is very important to give complete information. After obtaining the anamnestic data, an examination of the internal nasal structures, examination and quality of the nasal skin, size and shape, as well as the relationship of the nose with other facial structures should be performed. Do not use medications such as: Aspirin, Vitamin E and C, Estrogen for two weeks before nose surgery. Do not plan surgery during the menstrual cycle (in women). Do not eat or drink for eight hours before the operation. The psychological moment is also important for the preparation - that is. expectations from the nose surgery itself. That is why it is important for the patient to go through all the topics related to this in detail with his surgeon, so that his experience would be as good as possible and his recovery more pleasant. What does nose surgery look like? Nose surgery is most often performed under general endotracheal anesthesia. This is a method that involves incisions that are made inside the nostrils, so there are almost no scars, and plastic surgery of the nose can take from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the complexity of the correction. Surgery under local anesthesia is possible only for procedures on the cartilage of the tip of the nose (eg deformation of the nose with a tip like a cherry - sherry type deformity). After the operation, a tamponade is used for 5 to 7 days, external immobilization (plaster or metal plate) 10 days. Nasal plastic surgery is also performed in intravenous analgesia. During nose correction, monitoring is used to monitor heart rate, blood pressure, pulse and the amount of oxygen in your blood. Nose surgery - recovery After nose plastic surgery, a splint is placed on the ridge of the nose in order to immobilize the nasal tissue. When the operation is over, you will be transported to a semi-intensive care unit where you will continue to be monitored postoperatively for a certain period of time. After one night spent in the hospital, you can go home for further recovery. Generally, bruises around the cheeks and eyes are most visible during the first five days after rhinoplasty. During the recovery period after nose surgery, you can use make-up to hide bruises if necessary. Significant swelling can last for several weeks to six months. Minor residual swelling, usually around the tip of the nose, can last up to a year, but generally it is not noticeable and other
