What is buttermilk, I've never even had it in my pantry. I've never even seen it.
These pancakes are all you need, I'm sure buttermilk pancakes are great but If you need a quick fix in the morning which tastes absolutely great, you should try mine.
Ingredients
1 cup of ap flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
2 1/4 tbsp sugar
Zest of one orange (optional)
1/8 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup and 2 tbsp of milk
1 whole egg
2 tbsp melted butter or margarine
I tsp vanilla
Vegetable oil or extra butter for frying.
Directions
Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and wet ingredients separately.
Make a hole in the dry ingredients and stream in the wet ingredients and whisk gently until the ingredients are just combined, do not over whisk unless you want dense, tough, dry pancakes that don't rise as much.
Let batter rest in the fridge for at least 10mins so the gluten can relax
Heat a nonstick griddle or a cast iron skillet until slightly hot, not too hot otherwise pancakes will just burn outside and be runny inside , add in the butter or oil and then using a 1/3 cup scoop batter and gently pour into the frypan, once you start to see like 4 or 5 bubbles at the top and the edges are set you can flip. Make sure you flip the pancake non violently unless you want to squish out the wonderful air bubbles in your pancake. After about a minute remove the pancake and repeat with the remaining batter and viola flavourful pancakes without the stress. You're welcome.
Serve with whatever toppings you like.
Yummy nice taste
