A perfect day at the monastery!
Curtea de Arges Monastery, Heaven on earth...
Yesterday was a big holiday in our country in Romania, ascension of the Lord and we decided to go to a monastery dear to my soul. At 50 kilometers away from my house is one of the most famous monasteries in my country, the Curtea de Arges Monastery. I have been here countless times, but every time I come with an open mind and go with him clean and at peace with me. A place visited by hundreds of believers daily that has a positive charge. When I was a kid I used to come here on a school trip, now I go with my family and it's exactly the same as 30 years ago.
Overview of the place...
One of the most spiritually, historically and culturally charged settlements in Argeș County is the city of Curtea de Argeș. The capital of Wallachia, Curtea de Argeș carries with it centuries of history, civilization and culture, and proudly shows its inhabitants, but also the tourists who visit it the architectural wonders it possesses.Being one of the most imposing and elegant religious buildings in Romania, it is adorned with special paintings made with care and heart.
There are several impressive buildings inside the garden, but the main monastery is the first picture I showed you.
The monastery from Curtea de Argeș was founded by the lord of the Romanian country, Neagoe Basarab, the construction of the Curtea de Argeș monastery took place between 1514 and 1517.
The church of the monastery was built on the site of the old metropolis, built here in 1359, and the works were completed in 1517.
The consecration of this impressive place took place on August 15, 1517, even on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, which dedicated the holy edifice.
The church of Curtea de Argeş Monastery, in addition to its role of episcopal residence, was, at the same time, a royal necropolis. And later the royal necropolis. In the narthex of the church are the tombs of the main founders.
The garden of the monastery, heaven with flowers...
A beauty is the monastery garden. Exemplary cleanliness and many perfectly arranged flowers. Something dreamy, but also a lot of work done by the monks there. There is order in the whole court.
Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures inside the monastery, no one did, I probably wasn't allowed to take pictures. It has such beautiful paintings and the top, yesterday was crowded, but it was so quiet, a great feeling.
The legend of the monastery, myth or reality?
It is said that Master Manole built the monastery by order of the then ruler.
But everything they built during the day collapsed during the night.
Manole dreamed that if he sacrificed his wife, the construction would last.
So Manole builds his loving wife, Ana, and their unborn child from her womb on the wall of the building so that the church can be finished.
From that night on, the building did not disappear, the sacrifice lifting the curse on the construction site.
Impressed by her beauty, but fearing that the craftsmen would not build such a great church elsewhere, the ruler abandoned them on the roof.
To escape, they make their shingle wings to fly, but fall to the ground, dying. Since then, there has been a "Manole's Fountain" and a spring with clear water near the church. It is said to have appeared on the site of the fall of Manole, which is reminiscent of the sacrifice of its builders.
So, I don't know if this legend is myth or reality, I don't know what to believe. Everyone thinks what they want, but sometimes it's worth letting go.
This was my visit to the monastery yesterday and all the pictures here are taken by me.
the church is located so beautifully with pine trees, this is probably the most beautiful and interesting old church.
