Kenzo founder dies of COVID

Fashion designer Kenzo Takada died of coronavirus at the age of 81. Japanese designer and founder of the fashion house Kenzo passed away on Sunday, October 4, in a hospital in the French commune of Neuilly-sur-Seine.

Takada was born on February 27, 1939 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. He was educated at the Bunka Gakuen Fashion School in Tokyo and moved to France in 1965.

Kenzo was founded by Takada in 1970. In Paris, the designer opened his first boutique called Jungle Jap, where the first fashion show took place. The following year, he presented his collection in New York and Tokyo.

Since 1983, Takada has been involved in men's fashion. Five years later, Kenzo launched the first line of children's clothing and household goods, and a year later, perfume products.

In 1993, Kendzo sold his brand to the LVMH concern, and six years later he left the fashion house and took up author's projects. In 2004, Takada launched the Gokan Kobo brand, creating tableware, accessories and home furnishings.

In 2016, Takada became a Knight Commander of the Legion of Honor of France.
