Not all students can pay for tuition in the usual way.
The College of Tourism in Indonesia has invited students affected by the economic downturn during the coronavirus pandemic to pay tuition with coconuts and other foods.
The facility, which is located in Gianyar, Bali province, uses coconuts to produce virgin coconut oil, UPI reported. But students can also pay for their tuition with moringa leaves and gotu kola grass, which are used to make cosmetics and nutritional supplements.
Foods made from coconuts and other materials will be sold on campus and the proceeds will add to the college's budget, officials said.
The College of Tourism and other educational institutions in Indonesia have so far abandoned distance learning. Temperatures are measured regularly for students and group sizes have been reduced. All students are required to wear protective masks.
