Fraudsters again used the name of Elon Musk to promote a cryptocurrency scam. From a verified Twitter account, allegedly owned by the head of Tesla and SpaceX, they announced a "distribution of rewards" under a tweet from Donald Trump.

Under a tweet by the incumbent US president, dedicated to the elections in the country, the scammers said that "everything is decided" and offered to "celebrate."

When users navigated to the site, they saw a fake page announcing a supposedly special giveaway for "all cryptocurrency fans" from Tesla.

To receive the promised reward, the scammers offered to send a small amount of bitcoins and Ethereum to their wallets.

The stolen verified account, which the hackers later renamed, belonged to the head of Business Chicks Emma Isaacs.

At the time of writing, it is re-registered under her name.

Previously, cybercriminals have already used the name Musk to promote the "10,000 BTC distribution."

In 2018, the head of Tesla invited the creator of Dogecoin cryptocurrency Jackson Palmer to come up with a way to combat cryptocurrency fraud on Twitter, and in early 2020 he said that the level of crypto scam in the social network is "reaching new heights."

In July 2020, hackers hacked into the Twitter account of Musk himself and many other famous people and posted messages about a fake distribution of 5,000 BTC.
