Apple held a long-awaited presentation of new smartphones, which had to be postponed due to the coronavirus. The main innovation in the iPhone 12 lineup is 5G support. All four new smartphones support next-generation mobile networks of all kinds of standards around the world, including the Sub-6Hz and mmWave bands. On stage, they promised Internet speed up to 4 GB / s.
It is not yet known whether there will be some models without 5G support, for example, for Russia. In our country, mobile networks have not yet been launched and it is not known when they will appear.
The iPhone 12 is Apple's base flagship. It has a 6.1-inch OLED display with new Face ID, which is faster than last year's iPhone 11. The new screens use glass interspersed with ceramic, so it's four times stronger when dropped.
All new smartphones from today's presentation run on the Apple A14 processor - this is the first chip based on a 5-nanometer process technology. The company itself calls it the most powerful processor in smartphones.
The iPhone 12 has a set of two cameras - 12MP main and 12MP wide-angle. The main lens received optics from seven lenses, promise better images in low light and new Smart HDR algorithms with improved contrast. Night mode now works not only for the main camera, but also for the wide-angle one.
An unusual innovation is MagSafe. A magnetic pad is built into the cover of the smartphone, which is used for wireless charging and, for example, a special mini-case for credit cards. A small credit card holder attaches directly to your smartphone, and you can carry bank cards in it. The company also released a series of cases with MagSafe and a special foldable charger that allows you to charge your iPhone and watch at the same time.
The second smartphone is the iPhone 12 mini, the smallest iPhone in the last 4 years. It has an elongated 5.4-inch OLED display with small bezels, so its body is even smaller than the iPhone SE (2020) with a 4.7-inch screen.
Externally and in terms of characteristics, the iPhone 12 and 12 mini are identical, the difference is only in size. They got an updated iPhone 5-style design with a flat side bezel. The smartphones will come in five glossy colors - white, black, blue, red and green.
About the unpleasant. At the presentation, they said that the headphones and charger were removed from the box. Only the Lightning cable remains in the package, but the packaging has become smaller. It is understood that at home everyone already has several charges, so you do not need to add another one to them.
Here comes Pro
Introduced iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max - new flagships with 6.1 and 6.7 inches screen. Both run on the same Apple A14 processor and support 5G, but are otherwise very different from the base iPhone 12 models.
In the new products, we have significantly worked on the cameras - first of all, the main camera works better in low light. The secondary telephoto camera now provides 4x optical zoom, and the wide-angle camera has learned to work in night mode.
The 12 Pro Max has a more advanced camera set. The axial sensor has larger pixels, and the second lens provides 5x optical zoom at once.
