Progeria is a rare genetic disease or condition that makes a child's body to age faster.

It is also known as Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS).

This disease condition is rare but of course and can happen to anyone.

Usually the disease is not inherited because the children do not live up to marriageable age before they die. They do not live more than or up to 13 years.

This disease like I said above can affect anyone. So it does not matter the sex of the baby.

Once a mistake in a particular Gene happens, it results or causes it to produce an abnormal protein that is called progerin.

The image above is the picture of the first female girl with progeria in africa. She she is from South Africa, although late already.

So when our cells uses this protein - progerin, it breaks down faster and easily. Excessive accumulation of this protein is what makes these kids grow old faster.

So you end up seeing a child of about 10 years looking like a 90 year old woman or man.

The children look normal at the early age of 1 year but gradually begin to manifest the signs and symptoms of progeria and one of which is difficulty in adding weight.

So it happens but we only hope and pray it doesn't happen to any of our children.

Have you ever asked yourself why you doze off after eating heavy foods like like Garri, fufu, amala, or any heavy food at all.

After reading this, your curiosity will be doused. Generally, this happens to everyone. Once you are done eating, you feel tired and sleepy.

The reason behind this has alot of physiological angles to it. But we won't go so deep into them, I will give you the simple and concise explanation to it.

One thing you have to know is that eating is work on its own. As you eat, alot of muscle, and cells are in action.

Beginning from scooping the food, opening of your mouth, grinding by the teeth, swallowing through throat, the food peristaltic movement into the stomach etc are all work and require energy.

Once the food enter the stomach, the myenteric plexus (bunch of nerve fibres) send signal to the brain and in response, this causes more blood to go to the digestive systems so that the food can be digested faster.

You feel dizzy because your brain no longer gets enough of the blood it is meant to receive due to the fact that most of the blood have been diverted to the digestive system.

So if you want to be active, don't stay one place after eating, else, get ready to visit your ancestors briefly for an important meeting in the dream.😎

I heard that some foods, such as turkey, also has a type of enzyme or chemical that also chemically makes you sleepy. Is that also true?

I've watched a video about a teen with progeria and it's super sad because of his hopes for his future (even though he knows it'd be short) and his great achievements in the 17-ish years he'd lived. (it was made a few years ago and by the time I watched it, he'd already passed)
