There is a nice custom here of putting things you no longer need in giveaway boxes outside the door. Anyone who needs something simply takes it with them. Today I found a Samsung Galaxy S2 in one of these boxes. I don't need it directly but I see it as a challenge to make it functional again. At the moment it refuses to start but I think that with a new battery the problem will be solved quickly. Because with phones from this era, you can still change the battery. Self. Without any problems. In 10 seconds.

Hardest part might be finding a new battery. And a new operating system that is up to date.

In what country does this happen?. Surely it is someone from Europe, because in Latin America not even by accident does someone leave things for others at their door. In fact if they did they would most likely have a long line of people at their door waiting to be handed things. Things from underdeveloped countries that surely the sides of the United Kingdom, London, etc. do not know. I hope you manage to overcome the challenge and put it to work Bud Spencer =D, then you tell us.
I am in Germany. I think the custom is good, even if it clearly shows the luxury problem. People have too much. But it's better that way than when things go into the rubbish. Let's see if I can still find a battery for it for a good price.

Mmm, the batteries are pretty expensive and not original. Not sure if that will work.
As long as it boots while plugged into the wall then you are in the right direction. I used to mod my S2 and install all kinds of Android AOSP Rom's on mine. Fun times
The Rom thing was the plan but I won't come to life. Only gets warm when charging.
My galaxy s4 served me over 4 years. I wasn't too careful so had to let it go. Replaced and gifted it to someone else

If it doesn’t you can take it into an Apple Store and they’ll recycle it. Weird I know.
That sounds really strange. Here I can drop it off at any shop that sells electrical equipment.
we dont have like that. when we have old things that is no longer in use, either we give it directly to the people in need ( esp those who where hit by calamity) or we donate it to some NGU non govt unit.. did it work now?
Unfortunately not. I have to find an affordable battery first or ask the previous owners what exactly is broken.
