Recently, I read a story about a company that spent millions of dollars developing a product for house cleaning.
After the launch, they discovered that people preferred using their product as air freshener because of the nice scent and not for cleaning purposes.
They had to go back to the drawing board to rebrand their products. See? No arguments here.
Don't obsess over your products, instead focus on the problems your prospects are having and how to position your products/Company as the only solution they need, not the solution YOU THINK they need.
Second reason why you should never fall in love with your products is because you are not selling a product but a concept.
Another way to say this is, you're a selling the feeling, the drama and the paparazzi that your prospects want your products for.
For example, if you're selling a skin care product. You're actually selling the confidence that a smooth and healthy skin brings. You're selling how their skin will get eyes turning, how their smooth skin will attract the spouse of their dreams.
