“Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord;” The Acts 3:19 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/act.3.19.RV1895 Today’s verse calls for repentance. Peter, full of the Holy Spirit, preaches to people to turn from their sins. Confessing sins is great. It’s a great way to acknowledge our weaknesses and habits that are destructive in our lives. Repentance is turning from sin and regretting them. It’s making a change in your life. This change can be hard, without a doubt. But you have a champion on your side to help you. Ask for help and you shall receive it.

Let the light of the Lord show in everything you do and say. Let your life be an example to others that God’s community is alive and true. Show others that there is a way out of the darkness. And that is Christ. It always makes me sad to see people say they are Christians or followers of Jesus but then behave in a way that we know isn’t correct It also makes me sad to hear different denomination bashing each other over minor differences. If we are Christians and believe in the teachings, love, and sacrifice of Christ, then we ought to behave accordingly.

He sent his only son among us to live a perfect life and die a horrible death. Thus, ensuring everlasting life for all that want it. How does God show you He loves you? Beside the obvious answer. Everyone’s list is different. For me, I have a good family- not perfect, of course. I have a good job- but not perfect. I have a good income- but not perfect. I know God is always with me. I think most people would say that their life isn’t perfect. But think about it. It’s those imperfections that make life interesting and a place we can fail and learn. It’s those little imperfections that make life …. Perfect.

I think we can all agree that we should love everyone, but aren’t there some people that we would rather stay away from? Certainly, there must be some people we should stay away from for safety reasons. For myself, when safety or distance is an issue, I use prayer. I pray for those I can’t personally reach. Prayer is a very powerful tool. Pray for those you want to live but the distance is a p problem or you feel unsafe to get closer to. The last part, remember, people change and you are praying for that. Love is very powerful and in the end, can do anything.

They are in exile. He tells them to have faith that He knows what he is doing. Just like the people in exile, we can have trouble seeing the divine path that we are on. It’s hard to imagine how this terrible situation that we are in can help us in any way. It might seem that all is lost and Good has forgotten us. Fortunately, nothing could be farther from the truth. He does have a divine path for us. We may think it isn’t a good one. We might even feel it is a horrible experience or laced with evil. When we do, we need to trust in the Lord. When I get down and feel like all is lost, I read the accounts of exile in the Bible. God’s plan is good and full of love. But sometimes it differs from what we want.

I’m so short sighted. There have been so many times in my life that I was sure of what I wanted and what I knew. However, it didn’t last very long. My desire and understanding changed. In retrospect, what I know and understand has changed like the weather. However, the Lord is not like that. He has the long term view and the understanding of eternity. Never let anyone or idea stand between you and the Lord. Trust in Him.

This local elementary school gave each student a Chinese lantern to decorate for the new year. Then they hung them all around the village. Quite a nice project to brighten up the village and welcome in the new year.

My Redeemer Lives “But I know that my redeemer liveth, And that he shall stand up at the last upon the earth:” Job 19:25 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/job.19.25.RV1895 Today’s verse leaves me in at awe. We all know the story job. He was an upright man. But he got caught in a challenge. He lost his children, possessions, and health. His wife told him to curse God and his “friends” accuse him of sinning. Beautifully, he says- I know my redeemer lives. He didn’t give it to peer pressure or overcome my enough sadness to give up his faith. For me, that’s the key in this passage “my”. We have all been through times when we felt the Lord wasn’t on our side. I pray the next time, we can all be strong enough and know that “our” redeemer lives. Give us strength.

It’s cold in Taiwan and Chinese new year is coming. I’ve thing that changes in the market around this time is the introduction of hotpot goodies. If you have tried hot pot, then you know it’s a hot pot. Just kidding. It’sa pot of hot water over a great source. When the water boils, you add all kinds of vegetables, meats, tofu, and these goodies.

The Lord instructs and teachers us. However, this isn’t for everything that we want to do. We need to keep in mind that He is God and we are not. We should be His servants and not the other way around. All too often, it’s easy to get caught up in our own lives so put little things that seem important in front of our Lord. This can be very difficult to bring into our conscious thought process. Or course we should put Him first….. but this can’t wait- or so it seems. David is a good example of how to live. When confronted with choices, he prayed about it. As long as he did this, things turned out well. It was when he skipped asking the Lord in prayer that his life started spiraling down. Put the Lord first and pray about everything big and small. He is waiting to instruct you.
