*I do not own this image, but I love it. “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you," Luke 6:27 Today's verse is one of the most difficult for us to perform properly. It's not just, "Give the people who mistreat you a break." He actually goes on to say, Do good to those that hate you. Bless those that curse you. Pray for those that mistreat you. And if someone hits you, turn the other cheek. Wow! That's not easy for the best of us. This request really has me praying extra hard so that when it happens to me, I handle it in a manner that will make the Lord proud. Unfortunately, I usually fail...horribly. However, there are improvements. We are told to love them. This isn't ignoring them or telling them off. Such a difficult task. But we can achieve this. When I have trouble doing this, I remember all the times I have turned from the Lord and lashed out in anger, only to regret it. And all the times I have asked for forgiveness, only to have the Lord forgive me. If the Lord can forgive such a repeat offender and sinner, then who am I to offer less?

That's not easy to do indeed.
