Hello,
CoinMarketCap has a function that's not very known to all of us and might be very helpfull.
This feature allows you to see the rank by market cap of the crypto space in a specific date.
How does it work?
You can go to coinmarketcap.com/historical and select for example April 28th, 2013 and the site will have a snapshot of the rank in that date.
This is good for comparison between cycles, we can see how it happened and try to predict how it will happen. Although this isn't an exact science, it really is helpfull because under certain circunstances the market sometimes behaves in the same way as in the past.
Another great thing to research is where are some coins that were Top 10 back then. This is a good exercise and can put some perspective in your investments, some projects are overhyped and tend to disapear in the future.
Do you want to see it? This is the Top 7 from April 28th, 2013:
Bitcoin - $134.21
Litecoin - $4.35
Peercoin - $0.3865
Namecoin - $1.1
Terracoin - $0.6469
Devcoin - $0.0003
Novacoin - $4.25
As you can see the only ones that still stay strong are Bitcoin and Litecoin. If you go through the years you will see some projects that still are with us of course, but there are a lot of dead or almost dead projects out there.
Hope that you like this feature of CoinMarketCap as much as I do, it gives a good perspective on the short history of Cryptocurrency.
Best Regards,
