Hi there Fellas. How are you all doing today. It is cryptonoob with another short post 🤗 So guys question today is rather serious in nature. We all know the COVID-19 pandemic has taken over the world. Things are getting better slowly and the recoveries around a world are happening at a steady pace. Do you guys think that a recovered patient can get reinfected? There is mixed news online and it is really confusing. Lets have a productive discussion

They still can. The virus mutates itself to adapt to its environment, after all. So what initially infected you where you live may not be the same strain that will and could infect you if you move to another place. Same with dengue
Most of the research I read says that there is no evidence of people getting reinfected as this is how viruses work. But your point also seems valid as mutation is possible
My research says differently? I saw some papers saying people getting reinfected in china? I'm never sure because chinese news but then it's the virus source and i think the virus probably would have readapted. Plus i saw papers showing a few new strains of the virus. I think there's... 8 or 9 now?
Yes this a unique virus as adaptive nature makes it more dangerous. But all those news are never backed by any evidence
The papers about the virus strains have gene sequencing to back them up. The slight methylation on the RNA protein this virus gets makes all the difference in the world. Maybe I'll look for that paper again and show you when I'm up for going through my library
That would be great man. Lets hope we are all rid of this pandemic as early as possible.
More like we'll all fall asymptomatic to this eventually no matter how hard we avoid it. I think people will just naturally develop the antibodies for this virus through that
Yeah this is what I believe too. The best hope is a working vaccine and its fast implementation
Umm.. i don't know about a vaccine. The best the research field has are all antivirals that shorten the infection course but then they're not antibodies. They won't give you the immunity you'll need. They'll just reduce the virus count so in the end, you'll still need to be infected to have antibodies
That is deep research you got there. I am not that informative about this. Regards to antibodies, I am sure only infected person will have. The anti viral and plasma treatment has been promising so far
Was almost a covid researcher but my family opposed. I was so willing to though. Anyways, the plasma transfusion is basically what my country is going by plus the immune system boosters. It's a better treatment, but again. You'll still need to get infected since there's a lack of study on how it will affect uninfected people and actually doing clinical trials on it is still out of the question due to ethical reasons but I'd love to see research on this done even on animal trials
True in the middle east and my country also plasma has shown very positive results. Many people I know have similar stories, their families opposed because of the risk involved
Ohh so that recovery method spread. That's really fascinating. I still would love to go into that research sector though

Yes, it might happen especially if that person is either a doctor, a nurse or one of the so called frontliners or just a normal one
True. That is another way to think about it. They have more exposure to the virus than any other person

See there is news but all news is never true. I read some articles from experts saying that is is very unlikely that reinfection happens but then there are some articles that say it can happen. Not really a decisive view out there
Yeah there's a possibility of getting the infection again. However, the probability is very little coz there are a very few cases so far, still, as per the info i collected from genuine articles, its worst the second time.
Yeah I read about some also. But many experts claim that all the news about second infections is not backed by any proper evidence. But then there are interviews of people online who say they have been tested positive
Yes, the information available online is very diverse and most of it has nothing to do with reality. Another positive aspect which i read about re infection is that the asymptomatic patients won't/can't catch it again.
Yes I read too some where during my research. Like you said too much information and too diverse, one cannot conclude anything yet
I think it is possible, however with a very small possibility since some studies have indicated that once infected a person will start to create antibodies against the virus. That is the same reason why recovered patients are advised to donate some of their blood to extract the plasma where the antibodies are.
True. This was also what I read when I was researching about the top. I personally think that the antibodies should be able to protect against further infection
