Why read.cash could be the next reddit or even better.

TLDR:

Making read.cash more reddit-like with rewards and the frontpage more readable would revolutionize this website and the internet. Imagine reddit with tipping included in the rewards. The quality would drastically improve and result in less toxicity. With cryptos we have the possbility to do so.

Introduction

Reddit is a great site to get information, discuss current topics or just distract yourself with funny memes. Personally I discovered for myself that it is a really easy way to get information without much work. Whether it's some guy who spend the whole day to present the next amazon or a quick summary on how Bitcoin works. Which would take some people a whole day to understand if they did the research by themselves. Boom. A 10 minute read and you learned something

Where is the Problem?

Everyday we learn something new, get new information, new data. Unfortunately you might have misunderstood something. The information was wrong but seemed plausible. Maybe you just made a mistake interpreting the data.

We never had access to so much information ever before. We are literally carrying a supercomputer everywhere we go and can look up almost everything at any time.

So where is the problem? It's the quality of the information. There is a significant difference between the author who wrote an article about the next amazon in 30 minutes for some fast facebook clicks and the guy who spent the whole day researching the next amazon with solid data. However most people don't even care where the information came from. It's even proven that people that aren't educated as much tend to be more confident with less information then people who have more knowledge in the respective field. This is also known as the Dunning-Kruger effect. Don't get me wrong, this relates to all of us.

I remember being in a discussion with a friend and telling him some bullshit i read on facebook in a headline where i didn't even bother to read the article. I said it with a lot of confidence and it seemed plausible so he assumed I was right. Then a few hours later i realized where this information came from. I didnt even think about that in the moment. Maybe a good thing that I said goodbye to my facebook account.

There is just too much bad information out there. We need a way to get quality information fairly easy or at least make it easier. Having misinformed people can have crucial consequences.

Whats the solution?

Well, good research takes a lot of time and most of you dont wanna do it. Me neither. What about a compromise? A 20 minute read on reddit on your next investment sounds pretty good to me. We definitely shouldn't trust some stranger on the internet but verifying his research and maybe doing some of your own is way faster then doing it all by yourself. Don't like what you read or don't understand it ? Just move to the next post. The better the quality is the less work you'll have to do by yourself in the end. Sounds like a good solution to me. Let other people do the work!

Hmm, now i sound like an asshole. But wait a minute.

I dont know much about stocks. However i like to code and dont mind helping people on stackoverflow or giving back in other communities. Maybe the guy i helped on stackoverflow helps another guy in different community. That's good by me

We cant be experts at everything but if someone offers free quality information it would be stupid not to rely on it. Who knows, maybe you will become an expert in the field yourself and then can help someone new.

Conclusion PART 1 - let others do the work.

Ok, so other people will do your work because it's easier to build when you actually know how to build one. People have different incentives why they would do the work. Some want confirmation, test their theory, have fun or just share their opinion and get some feedback like I'm doing right know. Also maybe to improve my horrible writing skills.

The worthless reddit internet points aren't that great. Neither are the rewards where you are putting money directly in some corporate wallet.

Read.cash has actual money as an incentive and this idea seems so simple and yet so revolutionary. Most posts I read are even better then articles by journalists written in my local newspaper and these people get actually paid for it where as the random dude on the internet doesnt.

Just imagine how full of quality posts reddit would be if you could actually gift people money instead of some useless reward.

I know there is chaintip and other possibilities but it's just not as fancy and doesnt give the user the same experience. This may not seem as important but it is a huge difference in my opinion.

Conclusion PART2 - What's missing.

  • Make it more like reddit - I'm not referring to add more memes. Just improve a working system. The money incentive is great. Why not just improve a good working system and make it great?

  • Rewards - I love the tipping aspect but rewards would bring this on a whole new level. For example when you tip someone for 5$ you would get the option to give a reward like "helpful","gold,"silver". Everything else would remain the same. It seems like a small addition but would be huge in the long run and do wonders for popularity. People love to spend money on stuff like this.

  • Frontpage - The Frontpage is a disaster for me personally. I would love to see a design like a newpaper with 2-3 colums filled with boxes big enough where authors could either place a picture or a short summary what the article is about(short). Also maybe when you would be able to "flip pages" to another category. I definitely think a "theme" would be great not only for the eye but also for readability.

  • Including SLP tokens - Just a simple idea, that you would be able to earn tokens for a certain amount of upvotes, like moons for example on r/cc. BCH is great, why not implement it as another incentive.

I think with a few changes and with a little bit of time read.cash has huge potential and will be a massive gain for society. I'm a big fan of cryptocurrencies and BCH is not only an amazing one but the community is truly utilizing what crypto is made for.
