Diving into the Metaverse
Hello guys! It's your boy Cryptoboy and I'm here with another article about the metaverse. I recently saw a video of a meta building where people could go and workout or have a run in the virtual world. The project though still in infancy looks really promising.Today we're going to dive into the metaverse, and explore what a day will be like in the metaverse.
What is the Metaverse?
Simply put, the metaverse is the virtual world. Without any of the technical terms and stuff, the metaverse basically describes a virtual world where we can work, socialize, learn and be entertained. It's basically the internet but an improved version. Meta, the company workimg towards expanding the metaverse,is currently working on an AI which would be able to create virtual words according to the user's preference. All the user will have to do is to simply describe what he or she desires to create in the virtual world and the bot will make it appear; just like a fairy waves her hand and makes things disappear or appear. In a demonstration by Mark Zuckerberg,he appeared as a 3D avatar on an island and gave orders to create a beach with trees and clouds in the sky. Zuckerberg hopes to perfect the technology to enable us to create our own virtual realities where we have total control of our environment and creative power.
A day in the metaverse
You are woken up by your personal AI after a few calls and taps. You go into your bathroom to take your shower and afterwards brush your teeth;while brushing you get news updates from your mirror. After the bath you go downstairs to make breakfast. You decide to have tea with egg. You walk to the kitchen, open your fridge and fetch out the ingredients you need. You've made your tea and fried your egg. You were just about to put sugar in your tea when the bot reminded you you had already done so. The bot also reminds you that you're almost out of salt. You finish having breakfast and checked the time. It was 10 minutes to 8.How would you make it to work on time with all that traffic? But then you remember that you work from home, you heave a sign of relief and head to grab your virtual reality gear. Wearing your gear you start you enter the virtual world and appear as an avatar. You walk around and move towards the virtual gym, you free those already in and move to meet your clients' avatars at your usual spot and you start your training section with them as their gym instructor. After some intense training with them to wrap up and give them high fives for their impressive efforts. You bid them farewell and leave the gym. As you leave the gym to remember you're almost out of salt and you need to get some groceries so you drive your virtual Lambo to the grocery shop. After parking (and hey.. No parking tickets) you head into the grocery store. As you walk through the aisles you meet your nephew and the Two of had a little chat before you left to continue. After gathering all the groceries you need, you head to the cash register and pay with tokens( tokens bought with real life money BTW) and give your address details .After a few minutes you remove your virtual reality gear and head to your front door;there you find the groceries you ordered delivered by drone. You head to the kitchen and make lunch. While at it you an you receive a call, you picked and a 3D avatar was immediately projected out of your phone. You finish eating lunch and head back to your gear, you decide to take a walk with your girlfriend who lives 300 miles away from you.Darkness dawns and soon you find yourself in bed.
Sounds really helpful but also boring and lonely.Though most of it will be exciting, fun and let's not forget addictive, the metaverse might have it's dark side. The internet has already crippled socialisation in many ways but the metaverse might altogether just kill it off completely;basically the opposite of what it promises to do. Let's not forget how our eyes will suffer in the hands of those VR glasses. But I guess as with everything there's a downside to the metaverse. The company has not yet disclosed the time most of these products will be out in the market but is working hard to make it soon. So what's your take on the metaverse? Tell me in the comment section.
