What're your new year goals?

It's that time of the year when people make plans for the next phase of their life.

Making new year resolutions has almost become a custom for many.

But do you know how to make good new year resolutions?

And maximize the desired positive impact it has on your productivity in the coming year?

In this short piece, I am going to share with you how to do that.

1. Keep it SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound.

This is the first step.

Your new year resolutions must be SMART.

Specific: What exactly do you want. I want a gold-plated Lambo. I want to earn BCH. Not something like I want a car, I want to earn crypto. You get the point.

Measurable: Ok! How many Lambo do you want? How much BCH do you want to make?

Achievable: You want to start living in Mars by 2021 and own 100% of the Bitcoin supply? Sorry, that's not achievable.

Realistic: It's realistic to make $100 a month starting from zero. But $100,000 monthly from nothing? Good luck bro.

Time-bound: Give yourself a timeline to work with. Don't live it open-ended. I want to earn $100, ok. But when?

An example of a SMART goal will be: "To publish one post on read.cash every day (Monday-Friday) throughout the year".

A dumb goal will be "To publish multiple posts daily on read.cash.". Really?

2. Set goals that are within your control.

Set goals on things you can control.

Goals like "Make $10 on read.cash every day" does not make much sense.

Because you have no control over the tips.

But you can control the number of posts you publish.

Focus on the things you can control only.

Does that mean you cannot have a goal like make $100 monthly?

You can. but your attention should be on the things you can do to make that amount. Rather than be obsessed with the figure.

3. Be disciplined.

When you set goals, hold yourself accountable.

It's easy to stop half-way or slow down because you know there's no boss to sack you, reduce your paycheck, or a parent to spank you.

Work on your goals with even greater energy, commitment, and fear of failure that you use for a 9-5 job.

4. Be focused

Don't be a jack of all trades and master of none.

Focus on one (or as few as possible) goals at a time.

Once you finish one task, then you can move on to the next.

Doing too many unrelated things at the same time is always a sure-fire way to lose motivation. Experience burn-out, frustration, and quitting.

Completing one task will give you more motivation to tackle the next.

Finishing that and seeing the results will give you even greater energy to focus on yet another.

Learn to build on small successes and walk your way forward and upward.

Furthermore, don't chase after shiny appearance.

For example, you made plans to focus on building your audience on 3 platforms.

And then 3 months into the year, a new platform launched, and without even doing proper research, boom! you're onto there.

You can be flexible, but make sure you're not chasing every fad.

Otherwise, you'll be easily distracted and less productive. And at the end of the year, you're far away from reaching your goals.

5. Be desperate

But in a positive way.

Picture this.

You're sitting in front of your house and life walks up to you and say.

Hi! dear. Here's all your wish for in 2021. Let me know whenever you need more. I'm at your service."

Wake up sleepy!

This, this will never happen.

In fact, even when you're actively working on your goals and dreams, life will sometimes get in your way.

You gotta fight and go for everything you want.

Don't settle for a second-rate version of your dream.

It's either success or success, and be willing to do all it takes.

But wait, all it takes?

Yes!

All the right ways and right things it takes.
