**Today I am just going to give you some options to park your Stablecoins on Binance Smart Chain and ear juicy returns.**
All of these options are blue chip DeFi projects but as usual there are some risks involved so be aware of these.

Venus Protocol has been live as long as Binance Smart Chain.
**It now has more than 4.4bn TVL.** This is mostly a lending platform for your coins including your stablecoins.
The yield is decent and you can borrow coins against your deposits.
**The current APY are the following.**

Despite having suffered hacks a while ago, the platform is still operating and has learned from it.
It now has a TVL close to 1.5bn making it a solid Top 10 project on the BSC.
**Vaults**
They have the same way to work as vaults on Venus.io and are single assets that you exchange against 1belt equivalent that is yielding the listed APY.
LP Staking
**Belt.fi has 2 options for Stablecoins LP Staking**
**1. Option 1**
The most used is the one below. This is the one used on Cubdefi.com to join the Belt USD Kingdom.
**So you could add your stablecoins here, open a position and then add it to the CUB Kingdoms to get that extra 7% APY Yield.**
**2. Option 2**
Another new option with quite a small TVL at the moment ($0.7mn) is the Venus Belt LP Staking
**It is promising a c.47% APY on stablecoins. Quite good right?**
**This APY will probably come down as more TVL is added, but it is good while it lasts.**
**So if you have been profit taking on the current way up, maybe you should park some of these Stablecoins and generate passive income before** ***maybe*** **buying the DIP again.**

In case you missed it, ImmutableX announced they will change their $IMX Airdrop policy.
They will still calculate as before using wallets linked to the IMX platform and then calculate a total of points per wallet depending on how many cards and how rare they are.
As the congress and latest crypto bill scared them; they decided that they will make a special rule for Americances: They will calculate the points as for other players BUT instead of aidropping $IMX tokens, you will get 10$ worth of $ETH for every $IMX that you should have had.
To be honest, I think $IMX token will be worth more than $10 so I am sorry for my American friends. At least, they did not just say *you will have nothing*; it still sucks though.

**I had published a complete guide on what is the ZooGame platform, tokenomics and different metrics. When someone linked me the Certik Audit report with some ******major****** issues that were not fixed yet.**
Therefore I decided to join their TG and asked them why.

**2 messages later I have just been kicked of their TG for asking questions about why they did not follow the Auditor’s Guidelines on major issues**

**I decided to not erase it so Degen might still see what this platform is about.**
Today I will say a few words about a platform I have invested in and which gave me quite a nice return.
**As usual this is NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE and you should always do your own research (DYOR)**.

**ZooGame Currencies**
On this platform you have 2 cryptocurrencies:
$ZOO which is the native cryptocurrecy and which you obtain through mining or that you can buy on the market
$KEY which is the cryptocurrency that you farm the “normal way” by providing liquidity as an LP or pooling stablecoins/BNB tokens.
1 $KEY allow you to open a chest and loot an NFT like the one below.
There are 5 different rarities with different droprates.
For example the card below is a junk fox NFT. You can see the different statistics.
Every card has a $ZOO mining power symbolized by the pickaxe. All the cards’ mining power are summed to calculate the total hashpower and you get a % depending on your mining power share.
Here is the table relative to the NFTs mining power.

There is a Market place where you can seel or buy NFTs
Finally, they have added a Play To Earn component where you can compete against other farmers’ teams to climb up the leaderboard and get extra bonuses.
With what I understood, they are spreading the rewards to a lot of users as even if you sit at #1000+ you will still get some $KEY.
My strategy
Quite interesting farming project to be honest. **It seems to ressemble a lot MOBOX, another BSC project**; I have also heard users saying ZooGame is implementing updates way faster than MOBOX which got the community excited and confident in the project.
**As I know DeFi Farming and especially the ones linked to gaming can be VERY volatile; I just decided to put some $USDC and farm at a 300% current APY.**
I did not open a chest yet and I might but for now I am just selling my $KEY farmed on the market. I might just open one in the future just for fun. Hoping to get an Epic or legendary that I could see at >$1000

Hello HODLers, Farmers and PancakeSwap users,
Yesterday I came across this tweet from PancakeSwap:
I was the eagerly waiting. The vote came out a few hours ago and is clearly a must see for any $CAKE HODLers
First of all $CAKE HODLers and PancakeSwap users should be aware that **we live in a DeFi world where there is a competition for capital. Meaning that investors / Liquidity providers put their capital to work on a platform doing a risk/reward arbitrage.**
**Current CAKE emission and burns**
PancakeSwap because of its TVL and very safe track record could probably attract capital at a lower APY than let's say CubDeFi which is a smaller project.
Nevertheless, **if the yield difference between a Pool on PCS and CubDeFi is too high, LPs might want to take more risk because this risk is** ***paying-off*** **in terms of returns.**
By lowering the emission rate, you lower the APY (at least in the short term). Or, you would have to have a higher $CAKE price in order to give the same APY to LPs.
**This is something to consider because if APY drops too fast, capital will flee and this can find yourself in a vicious circle.**
There is a very important vote concerning the $CAKE emission, so if you have some.

**The vote started today, August, 5th and will last until August, 12th**
**Here are the voting options:**

Total emissions = 19 CAKE per block (including Syrup Pool)
🔥 1 CAKE per block (11%) reduction to farm rewards:

New total emissions = 18 CAKE per block (including Syrup Pool)
🔥🔥 2 CAKE per block (22%) reduction to farm rewards:
7 CAKE per block go to yield farms
New total emissions = 17 CAKE per block (including Syrup Pool)

6 CAKE per block go to yield farms
New total emissions = 16 CAKE per block (including Syrup Pool)

New total emissions = 15 CAKE per block (including Syrup Pool)
At the moment it seems $CAKE HODLers strongly support the biggest Yield Farms Reduction of 4 CAKE per block. **More than 90% of voting power is supporting this option.**
**I personally believe a lower reduction of 2/3 CAKE per block would have been better as the platform and token could have more time to adapt.**
**Nevertheless, this kind of vote is very positive for the platform as it shows the power of CAKE as a governance token** and it also gives some light on the paltform through tweets or posts such as this one.
To conclude I am keeping my long CAKE position and might even increase it.

I checked the platform out. It is a yield aggregator cross chains (ETH, BSC and Fantom). It looked quite interesting and they had a lot of development ongoing.
They also were audited twice, so clearly they were trying to protect investors from things like this. Shortly after the $ICE token dropped by 60% to c.$1. I decided to buy at c.$1.3 and get an easy 20-30% with my *free* BNB.
The $ICE Token trades now between $1.55-1.6 but as I went to there Discord and looked at the Roadmap. I am not even sure I should sell anymore...

Crypto Markets are taking a breather but this does not mean we have to do as well. **Today, I have been looking deeply into the upcoming Immutable X $IMX Token.**
**What is it?**
**High ETH gas fees have penalized Gods Unchained development for a long time**, therefore they decided to make their own internal platform to trade cards. **This is an ETH L2 Network for NFTs made by Immutable.**
They are opening it up to other games in order to maybe one day become the go to platform for Cryptocurrency/Blockchain gaming.

This is probably the least risky bet as instead of betting on a game or a few of them, you bet on the overall sector.
PancakeSwap has always been very agile and quick to identify and benefit from new Market Trends.
**Top 13 Gaming Dapps**
**As you can see there are 4 listed on BSC but actually there are 6 that have their liquidity locked on the Binance Smart Chain.**
Alien Worlds has a better liquidity/volume on its PancakeSwap Pool and Splinterlands just announced that their SPS Token will have its main liquidity pool on PCS too.
Out of the 5 first Games (I kick RPlanet as it is not a real game but more like a DeFi Game); PancakeSwap is the home for 3.
**Top Pairs by Volume on PancakeSwap**
3 out of the Top 20 are already Crypto Gaming Pairs (4 soon with the launch of the SPS-BNB pool).
**This brings incremental volume and if by CHANCE, a few of these games come even close to be as popular as Axie Infinity, therefore this could double or even tripple PancakeSwap's volume and therefore $CAKE Burns !**
I plan to let you know about a Crypto Game on BSC that is a GEM in my opinion. Under 5mn Market Cap and I already tripled my investment.
**Current Metrics of PancakeSwap**
TVL and Volume are both trending up and despite the small Bear Market the Crypto Market has been in, PCS is quite close to its ATH TVL; it *just* needs $2bn more.
**My only doubt about this investment case is the fact that Binance and therefore BNB seems to be in the crosshair of Western regulators** as a proxy of the China - US Economic War.

Bitcoin set a new all-time high this morning after breaking the $50,000 barrier on Tuesday night, data from markets tool CoinGecko shows.
The asset saw a record price of $51,421 after a sudden surge from the $49,000 price level last night. It had earlier set a high price in the $50,450 region on Tuesday—a move that quickly retraced within minutes at the time.
But one key indicator is back on the right side for Bitcoin bulls, according to Cryptoquant CEO Ki Young Ju. Yesterday he noted that there was a negative premium on Coinbase, meaning prices were lower there than in the rest of the market. He argued that this would need to change for the cryptocurrency to rise further.

A small scale study of financial executives has found that 5% of companies intend to invest in Bitcoin (BTC) as a corporate asset this year, with a further 11% stating they could do so by 2024.
The survey conducted by Gartner comes on the back of news that Tesla invested 8%, or $1.5 billion of its cash reserve, into Bitcoin. MicroStrategy Inc. who has also invested large sums into the token announced a $600 million convertible bond offering Tuesday with the intent of using the proceeds to acquire additional Bitcoins.
The 77 respondents, including 50 CFOs among other executives, showed highly differing views based on the industry the company works in. The technology sector showed the most attraction towards Bitcoin with 50% of respondents from this industry anticipating holding the cryptocurrency in the future, with no difference based on the organization’s size.
Although the majority of those surveyed (84%) stated their main concerns about investing revolves around the financial risk that comes from Bitcoin’s high volatility, it also appears many are adopting a wait and see approach a the landscape develops.
*“It’s important to remember this is a nascent phenomenon in the long timeline of corporate assets. Finance leaders who are tasked with ensuring financial stability are not prone to making speculative leaps into unknown territory.”*

Decentralized finance protocols (DeFi) Cream Finance and Alpha Finance were victims of one of the largest flash loan attacks ever Saturday morning, resulting in a loss of funds totaling $37.5 million, according to transaction details on Etherscan.
Alpha Finance then posted its own announcement, saying its Alpha Homora V2 product was the root cause. The company confirmed that it is working with DeFi guru Andre Cronje and Cream Finance to investigate the incident, and that the loophole had been fixed. It also said that they “have a prime suspect” in mind.
Earlier, Cream Finance tweeted an update on the incident saying that asset borrowing from its recently launched Iron Bank lending feature had been suspended. That tweet has since been deleted.
This is the second attack on a DeFi protocol in the last two weeks. Cronje’s Yearn Finance suffered an an exploit in one of its DAI lending pools, according to the decentralized finance protocol’s official Twitter account. That exploit drained $11 million.

Morgan Stanley’s $150 billion Counterpoint Global investment unit is considering placing a bet on bitcoin, according to a report by Bloomberg, which cited people familiar with the matter.
In order to move ahead, an investment would need approval by the firm and regulators, Bloomberg noted.
If true, this investment would not be Morgan Stanley's first exposure to the leading cryptocurrency. Already, it has a nearly 11% stake in the bitcoin-laden business intelligence company MicroStrategy, per CoinDesk's reporting.

The prices of cryptocurrencies are moving in tandem with the broader stock market as it was another green day for assets.
Global crypto markets were up 5.6% in the last 24 hours to $1.17 trillion, making it four days straight crypto’s total value has stayed about the trillion dollar mark.
Leading the charge was Bitcoin, with 4.7% gains, putting it just shy of $38,000. It’s been 27 days since it hit $40,000. If Bitcoin gains another 7% it will surpass that figure, but some indicators suggest the asset is becoming overbought, according to Market Milk.
But technical indicators have been sat in the red for some time indicating Ethereum’s position is due for a correction at some point.
Markets continue gains as big cap tech stocks exceed expectations
The Dow and S&P 500 were up fractions of a percent in closing while the Nasdaq closed 0.02% down. But digging a little deeper it was a big day for some companies. eBay jumped 10% and PayPal rose 6% as their fourth quarter results came in higher than estimates.
Investors are increasingly turning back to ‘fundamentals’ - a term loosely referring to how healthy a company is based on earnings reports and other salient metrics - after the GameStop turbulence of last week.

Visa (V) is piloting a suite of application programming interfaces (APIs) that will allow banks to offer bitcoin services, the payments giant announced Wednesday.
The Visa Crypto APIs pilot program will let clients “easily connect into the infrastructure provided by Visa’s partner, Anchorage, a federally chartered digital asset bank, to allow their customers to buy and sell digital assets such as bitcoin as an investment within their existing consumer experiences,” Visa said in a press statement.
Visa envisions a product set that extends to other cryptocurrencies and stablecoins as well as other crypto services such as trading, Visa crypto lead Cuy Sheffield told CoinDesk in an interview. Digital bank First Boulevard is the first bank involved in the pilot; Visa has issued a wait list for other banks.
‘Next phase’
*“This is shifting to the next phase of Visa’s strategy where we’re looking at how Visa can also be a bridge between the thousands of financial institutions … and help them tap into the growing world of crypto assets and blockchain networks,”* Sheffield told CoinDesk in an interview.

Creating a Black crypto bank
The news also coincided with an announcement from Visa that it would be partnering with five Black-focused banks and fintechs to offer financial and business services that cater to the Black community.
First Boulevard, the first firm to join the Visa pilot, is a digital bank that is building tools to help African Americans passively build wealth and will launch sometime in early 2021. The bank plans on using the bitcoin services and its partnership with Visa to educate its customers about bitcoin as a way to close the general wealth disparities faced by Black communities, said Donald Hawkins, president and CEO of First Boulevard.

At the conference, Saylor was bullish on bitcoin as usual and said he expects “an avalanche of companies” to join the crypto economy.
Microstrategy’s Bitcoin for Corporations Event
On February 3 and 4, the firm Microstrategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) held an event called “Bitcoin for Corporations,” which aims to entice corporate entities to get into the leading crypto asset. In 2020 and into 2021, there’s been a major expansion of the M2 money supply as estimates believe 25-30% of all USD in existence was printed last year. This has led to a number of firms exchanging cash and bonds for bitcoin (BTC) in order to protect the company from devaluing fiat.
The day before Microstrategy’s corporate virtual conference, Saylor said that 1,400 firms would be joining the event. “If you are interested in the legal considerations firms face while integrating bitcoin into their corporate strategy, you are not alone,” Saylor tweeted. “We have professionals from more than 1,400 firms joining us tomorrow for this discussion. There is still time for your legal team to attend,” the executive added.

BTC above the 10-hour and the 50-hour moving averages on the hourly chart, a bullish signal for market technicians.
*“A clean break above $34,500 and more sustainably above $36,000 is needed,”* David Lifchitz, chief investment officer of quant trading firm ExoAlpha, told CoinDesk. *“We could also be in for a classic ‘W’ bottom when the first bounce off the lows is met by another batch of selling before it eventually bounces back for real.”*
So far this year, bitcoin is up over 13% on spot exchanges such as Luxembourg-based Bitstamp.
Something to watch: Ether’s decoupling from bitcoin. Over the past year, the correlation between bitcoin and ether has slipped.

More recently, during the confirmation process for the Treasury role, Yellen updated her thoughts on cryptocurrencies, which she thinks can benefit the financial system.

Merrick Okamoto, chairman and chief executive officer of Marathon, said the Nasdaq firm is buying bitcoin (BTC) as a reserve asset.
*“We…believe that holding part of our treasury reserves in bitcoin will be a better long-term strategy than holding US dollars, similar to other forward-thinking companies like Microstrategy,”* said Okamoto, in a statement.
*“By purchasing $150 million worth of bitcoin, we have accelerated the process of building Marathon into what we believe to be the de facto investment choice for individuals and institutions who are seeking exposure to this new asset class,”* he added.

Chicago-based Rothschild Investment Corporation recently increased its position in Grayscale Bitcoin Trust to 30,454 shares, a 24% increase from October.
The institutional investment manager of $1.4 billion disclosed Monday its shares in the trust were worth $975,000 at the end of 2020.
Rothschild Investment first bought shares of Grayscale's bitcoin (BTC, -2.31%) vehicle in 2017 but appeared to have exited that position shortly after. It began buying again in 2019.
Grayscale is owned by CoinDesk parent company Digital Currency Group

Strong hands look to have been backing the recent rally to record highs for Ethereum’s ether cryptocurrency.
The number of whale addresses (those holding at least 10,000 ETH (+6.71%)) jumped to a 13-month high of 1,103 on Saturday, according to on-chain data from blockchain analytics firm Glassnode. More than 35 whale addresses have been created this month alone, and 75 since mid-November.
The increased accumulation by investors with deep pockets may have put upward pressure on the ether’s price.
Supply shortage?
Data also shows ether is leaving centralized exchanges, possibly creating a supply shortage and facilitating a stronger bullish move, according to one analyst.
The number of coins held on exchanges fell to 15,469,582 over the weekend, the lowest level since October 2019. The exchange balance has declined by more than 1 million in the past four days alone.
Stronger gains ahead?
*“The ETH slingshot is only now being drawn back, and we can expect a powerful upward move in the first half of 2021,”* Jehan Chu, managing partner at Hong Kong-based crypto investment firm Kenetic Capital said, adding that increased staking and the growth in decentralized finance (DeFi) is ratcheting up organic demand for the cryptocurrency.

The total market capitalization of all decentralized finance (DeFi) tokens has exceeded $45 billion today, according to crypto metrics platform CoinGecko.
“DeFi total market cap. 2020 was at $2 billion. 2021 now at $43 billion,” CoinGecko tweeted yesterday.
During January alone, the total value locked on DeFi platforms has already increased by $11 billion, reaching over $26.2 billion today, according to DeFi Pulse.

Bitcoin finds a new range in uncharted territory
Following the new all-time high price in Bitcoin (BTC) of $41,940 on Jan 8, the top cryptocurrency has entered what looks to be a brief consolidation phase as bulls attempt to push the price higher after confirming the $40,000 level as support.

On Friday, Flare Networks announced that it will airdrop Spark (FLR) tokens to Litecoin holders in advance of its mainnet launch later this year.
In a follow-up tweet, the company also announced that it has reduced the five billion tokens initially allocated for distribution amongst their founders to cover the airdrop.
Flare Networks plans to integrate with Litecoin to bring decentralized financial services (DeFi) to the currency, allowing LTC “to be used trustlessly on Flare with Ethereum style smart contracts” and promising “interoperability and composability” for it.
Nor is this Flare’s first big airdrop. Back in December, Flare took a snapshot of XRP for an airdrop of 45,827,728,412 Spark tokens, which will be issued to XRP holders in the first half of 2021.
In a blog post, Hugo Philion, CEO and co-founder of Flare Networks, said that the ratio between XRP and FLR holders is near enough to 1:1. For every XRP that an eligible participant held, Flare shall give them 1.0073 Spark tokens

While a bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) would be a long-term positive, in the short term it could hurt the price of the leading cryptocurrency as it would draw institutional money from the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), currently the only way for some on Wall Street to gain exposure to bitcoin, JPMorgan analysts wrote in a report.
Optimism over the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approving a bitcoin (BTC, -1.46%) ETF this year has grown due to the likelihood of a new commissioner being appointed this year, the report notes.
But that change would give competition to GBTC, which benefits from being the only game in town. (Grayscale is owned by Digital Currency Group, the parent company of CoinDesk.)
Due to regulatory and other restrictions, some financial institutions and funds can't directly own bitcoin or even buy shares directly from Grayscale. To get in on the bitcoin action, they have little choice but to buy GBTC shares on the secondary market at a premium. With an ETF, that premium would shrink, reducing the attractiveness of GBTC shares.

Apple has suspended Parler, a conservative social media service, from its App Store, saying the app’s owner hasn’t done enough to deal with threats of violence on the platform. Meanwhile, Amazon dealt the service a potential death blow by kicking it off its web hosting service, citing the same reason, BuzzFeed News reported.
Amazon's action means that if the service can't find another host, Parler will go offline Sunday.
“Recently, we’ve seen a steady increase in this violent content on your website, all of which violates our terms. It’s clear that Parler does not have an effective process to comply with the AWS terms of service,” Amazon said to Parler in an email obtained by BuzzFeed.
Apple struck much the same tone in a statement Saturday: “Parler has not taken adequate measures to address the proliferation of these threats to people’s safety.”

The March market crash will go down in history as one of the steepest and most rapid sell-offs to ever sweep cryptocurrency markets. Over the course of an hour, bitcoin (BTC, -6.73%)‘s price plummeted thousands of dollars and order book liquidity all but evaporated. This chart shows the sum of all bids and asks placed on Coinbase’s BTC-USD order book before, during and after the first price crash. We can observe that when the crash began around 10:30am, the quantity of orders surrounding the midprice plummeted, forcing a liquidity crisis that perpetuated the steep fall in price.
This chart is one of my favorites because it demonstrates the important role that market makers play in creating and maintaining liquidity in cryptocurrency markets. Ultimately, the March crash proved that the price of an asset is often less a reflection of the “true value at a point in time assigned through the process of market-based price discovery” and more a product of relentless feedback loops triggered by automatic liquidations and decimated order book depth. As cryptocurrency markets mature and order book liquidity improves, we can expect the magnitude and frequency of such price crashes to decrease.
In 2020, institutions finally embraced bitcoin but not always in the way one would expect. For instance, sophisticated investors such as hedge funds have been looking at capturing spreads by looking at the inefficiencies of this nascent market. This has translated in particular to leveraged funds positioning of CME bitcoin futures making new record shorts almost on a weekly basis in the last quarter of 2020.
2021 prediction: DeFi derivatives platforms will see a more substantial growth, with stricter regulations on the centralized derivatives market leading traders to alternative markets.
Earlier this week, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) was briefly the largest bitcoin futures exchange by open interest, which reached $1.66 billion. TAKEAWAY: This is, in my view, the clearest signal that institutional interest in bitcoin is growing. At the beginning of 2020, the CME bitcoin futures open interest ranked fifth, well behind BitMEX, OKEx and Huobi. The daily volumes in the CME’s bitcoin futures, however, are well below the exchange’s Asian counterparts, which implies less trading and more strategic positioning than in crypto derivative exchanges outside the U.S.

The price of Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, today hit $1,005 the culmination of a weekend bender that’s added a few hundred dollars to its price. Coinbase showed that Eth briefly hit that price at 23:38 UTC, before dropping below $1,000.
While proselytizers and vultures alike have been circling BTC in droves since Christmas, Ethereum’s strong performance puts it well on the way to surpassing its all time high of $1,432 set in January 2018. That was the last time ETH hit four figures on the dollar before it settled into a three-figure decline by the start of February 2018.
Ethereum’s success today, and the success of most of the other major alt coins, is the result of Bitcoin’s bull run. Altcoins often track Bitcoin’s price, given Bitcoin’s dominance over the market. Traders are “looking for ‘the next BTC’,” said Nimrod Lehavi, CEO and founder of crypto payments company Simplex, in an earlier conversation with Decrypt.

There are many investors feeling validated in the cryptocurrency market now that Bitcoin’s price has established a new all-time high of $34,778.
The last time Bitcoin (BTC) traded anywhere near this level was during the bull run of 2017, when it reached a peak of about $19,783. Even the mainstream media took notice, including the New York Times, which observed that the current rally had “a very different feel to it than the last time around.”
Many in the cryptocurrency community would agree. Therefore, it’s essential to take a deeper look at the factors that are driving the current rally.
At that time, there were reportedly millions of retail investors in South Korea, Japan and China that became a force in the market. Back then, it was the “average Joe” powering Bitcoin’s more-than-1,300% gain that year, as pointed out in the Wall Street Journal by IG Group chief market strategist Chris Weston.
*“Bitcoin has caught the attention and the imagination of many people. Still untested, pretty small market relative to other markets.”*
That was then, this is now
Another key difference is that Bitcoin’s price started off the year in 2017, trading at about $1,000. In 2020, BTC’s price began trading at $7,200. So, it’s much more expensive today, and not all retail investors may realize that they don’t have to buy an entire Bitcoin to gain exposure to the asset.
The fly in the ointment in 2020, however, was COVID-19. For individual investors, the economic slowdown might have thrown a wrench into any investment plans. U.S. unemployment, for instance, is hovering at 6.7%, which means that the economy still has a steep hill to climb if mom-and-pop investors are going to dig themselves out of the hole from the pandemic.
High unemployment translates to low disposable income, and Uncle Sam hasn’t been too helpful. While BTC might be designed to be a great democratizing force, that control can’t be harnessed by people who are struggling with the economic realities of 2020.

After seeming to take a couple of days to catch its breath following its record-setting run over the weekend, the price of bitcoin (BTC) once again resumed its torrid upward pace, setting a new all-time high $28,579.59 early Wednesday morning.
BTC topped the previous high-water mark of $28,352.63 set less than 72 hours earlier, before dropping back to $27,772.99, up 4.14% in the last 24 hours. The price of BTC (+4.08%) has risen more than 295% year-to-date.
Institutional investors are perceived to be driving this record-setting run. Among them: Anthony Scaramucci’s Skybridge Capital ($25 million in December); MassMutual ($100 million in December); and Guggenheim (up to 10% of its $5 billion macro fund).
Ether lower on active retail trading activities
The second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, ether (ETH) was down Tuesday, trading around $728.59 and down 0.47% in 24 hours as of 21:00 UTC (4:00 p.m. ET).

The New York Department of Financial Services has issued a trust charter to GMO-Z.com Trust Company, allowing it to “issue, administer and redeem” Japanese yen (JPY)- and U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoins in New York.
The regulated JPY-pegged stablecoin will be the first of its kind available to the public.
GMO is a Tokyo-based internet conglomerate and said it is the world's largest online FX trading platform.
The charter makes GMO one of only 27 companies licensed in New York to engage in virtual currency activities.

*“Pay me in bitcoin”* has come true for National Football League player Russell Okung. Some 20 months and a 273% price increase after he first tweeted that demand in May 2019, Okung will be the first player from any major U.S. sports league to be paid in bitcoin.
The arrangement comes by way of Zap, the bitcoin (BTC, +4.3%) startup founded by Jack Mallers. Zap’s Strike product enables traditional paychecks to be converted into BTC.
Okung’s just happens to be quite large. His $13 million yearly salary is being split 50-50 between bitcoin and fiat, Mallers said Monday in a phone interview with CoinDesk.
Mallers said other pro athletes, including unnamed members of the Brooklyn Nets basketball team and baseball’s New York Yankees, have also begun onboarding to the program. Mallers said the NFL and NFL Players Association had to be involved to get approval. It is unclear if such approvals are also required for the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball.
How Strike works
Technically speaking, Okung is still being paid in fiat. Behind the scenes, however, is Lightning Network magic: Strike receives a direct deposit from his team, the Carolina Panthers, and then swaps dollars for bitcoin. That bitcoin is then sent to a cold storage wallet held by Okung, Mallers said. (To recap, Lightning is a secondary system for sending bitcoin in a cheaper and quicker fashion compared to using the Bitcoin network itself.)

Bitcoin has mostly traded in a tight, low-volume range Monday while some profit-taking from bitcoin into ether is appearing on the ETH/BTC charts.

BTC very near its 10-hour and 50-hour moving averages on the hourly chart, a sideways signal for market technicians.
After Sunday’s run that saw over $4 billion in volume on major CoinDesk 20 exchanges, Monday’s spot trading tally is much lower, at $1.8 billion as of press time. “Given the speed of the rise yesterday, especially after the last few days’ rally, a slight contraction is normal,” said David Lifchitz, chief investment officer of quant trading firm ExoAlpha.
Other analysts agree with QCP that bitcoin’s price push is allowing other cryptocurrencies, particularly ether, to start getting more attention. “I think the BTC price slowdown is giving some breath for the altcoin season,” said Misha Alefirenko, founder of crypto market maker VelvetFormula. The ether futures market is trending back up after a record-high $2.2 billion in open interest lost some steam after Dec. 19.
ETH/BTC Goes Bull Mode
Some profit-taking from bitcoin into ether is the main culprit, according to Vishal Shah, an options trader and founder of derivatives venue Alpha5. “I think it’s the spillover effects of BTC exhaustion,” Shah told CoinDesk. He also added it is likely hardcore crypto traders ekeing out more gains in this bull cycle pushing the ETH/BTC hourly chart up. “This entire rally has been born of bitcoin, so [its] hard to see it simply shift gears. And if it does, it’s probably not the same ilk of investor.”

The coin has dropped in price by 42% since the SEC announced the charges, from $0.47 to $0.27. The coin has already dropped in value by 8% following the news to $0.25.
Coinbase joins the growing list of cryptocurrency exchanges that have suspended trading of XRP after Bitstamp, Beaxy, CrossTower, OKCoin and OSL. XRP is still open for trading on Binance, Kraken, and Huobi.

The SEC alleges that Virgil and its managing director defrauded investors.
Instead of putting funds toward a crypto trading bot, it conducted off-the-books investments.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that a New York court has granted it the right to freeze the assets of crypto-asset firm
Virgil Capital LLC and its managing partner, Stefan Qin, for misappropriating money Qin told investors was earmarked for a crypto trading bot.
The SEC obtained the rights to freeze the assets of the firm, which claims to control $112 million, over allegations that Qin has defrauded investors in Virgil Capital's Sigma Fund since 2018 by misrepresenting its strategy, assets, and financial condition.
The SEC alleges that Qin, a 23-year-old Australian with offices in New York and Shanghai who is believed to currently reside in Seoul, misled investors by telling them that he would invest their money in a crypto trading algorithm that profited from price differences between exchanges.
*"Qin allegedly made false promises to lure investors and then continued his deception to conceal his misuse of investor funds,"* SEC Cyber Unit Chief Littman said in a statement.
And when investors wanted to take their money out, the SEC alleges that Qin convinced them to instead move funds from its Sigma Fund (which the SEC alleges was just...Qin) to its $25 million VQR MultiStrategy Fund.
Then Qin reportedly told investors that the bank had delayed their transactions between the two funds. “In reality, the wire transfers were rejected because there were not sufficient funds in the Sigma Fund’s account to complete the wire transfers,” the SEC alleges.

The decentralized finance (DeFi) insurance project Cover Protocol was hacked earlier Monday in an infinite printing scheme, causing the price of the COVER token to plunge. Hours later, Grap.Finance, a “white hat hacker” claimed responsibility for the attack via their Twitter account, saying all funds had been returned.
The exploiter has cashed out over $4 million including about 1,400 ether (ETH, -0.33%), one million DAI (+0.08%) and 90 WBTC. The attacker earlier created 40 quintillion COVER tokens and sold $5 million worth of them on Monday morning. More than $3 million has been returned.
Cover Protocol later announced it was exploring launching a new token through a snapshot “before the minting exploit was abused.”
*“The 4350 ETH that has been returned by the attacker will also be handled through a snapshot to the LP token holders. We are still investigating,”* according to the project’s Twitter account, which urged users not to buy any COVER tokens now.
The hacker tricked the protocol into minting new tokens as rewards by exploiting a bug in the smart contract Solidity, which involves using memory and storage incorrectly in the programming language.
The Cover DeFi protocol, designed as an insurance product that could help users reduce smart contract failure-related risks, merged with Yearn.Finance a month ago

After hitting $25,000 on Dec. 25 and $26,000 on Dec. 26, quite naturally the price of bitcoin (BTC) soared past $27,000 early on Dec. 27 as the leading cryptocurrency’s recent meteoric rise continues. BTC’s market value now exceeds $500 billion.
Recently, BTC has been leaving a string of broken records in its wake after passing the psychologically key $20,000 mark for the first time ever on Dec. 16.
In the last several days BTC seems to found yet another gear, breaking through $25,000 Friday night for the first time, and going through $26,000 Saturday afternoon like a hot poker through one-ply tissue.
Roughly half a day later, BTC surged to a new all-time high of $27,666.17 early Sunday morning, before settling down to $27,519.52 at this writing, up 11.04% in the last 24 hours.
Year-to-date BTC is up more than 270%.
Institutional investors are perceived to be driving this record-setting run. Among them: Anthony Scaramucci’s Skybridge Capital ($25 million in December); MassMutual ($100 million in December); and Guggenheim (up to 10% of its $5 billion macro fund).

Ricardo Salinas Pliego, chairman at conglomerate Grupo Salinas and Mexico’s second richest man, has revealed to Cointelegraph in an interview that he bought his first Bitcoin in 2013, when it was worth around $200. That, according to the billionaire, was his “best investment ever”.
After holding it all the way until its 2017 highs, he sold all his positions at $17,000 and bought it again later at a cheaper price.
“We always return to the scene of the crime”, he joked.
Now Salinas holds around 10% of his liquid portfolio in BTC and doesn't plan to sell any of it any time soon.

The folks at Deribit apparently think betting on a $100,000 bitcoin (BTC) price is so earlier-this-month because on Friday, mere hours before the leading cryptocurrency hit $25,000 for the first time, the crypto derivatives exchange announced contracts on $120,000 BTC with $140,000 added on Saturday morning.
A week ago last Thursday, Deribit made waves in the cryptocurrency industry by introducing call and put options at the $100,000 strike price expiring on Sept. 24, 2021.
The purchase of a $100,000 call is a bet that bitcoin (BTC, +11.34%) will rise above that level on or before Sept. 24, 2021, making the option “in-the-money.”
When those options went live, BTC was in the midst of a stunning run into uncharted territory past $20,000, setting a then-record high of $23,770 on the day those $100,000 options went live.

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp said it’s halting XRP trading and deposits for all U.S. customers on Jan. 8, 2021, because of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s recent filing, alleging XRP is a security.
U.S. customers will be able to withdraw their XRP even after trading is halted, Bitstamp said.
Other countries are not affected, Bitstamp said.
Bitstamp is the first major cryptocurrency exchange to take action on XRP (-14.58%) in response to the SEC's lawsuit against Ripple Labs.

Well, I guess there is no point for a lot of content creators to post on Read.cash as exclusive content takes a lot of time in addition to the content produced already.
I really liked Read.cash and was making a video just on it to bring people over but this new rewarding rule makes it kind of a useless platform for content creators imho.
What are your thoughts?
