What's One Scary Story You Were Told A Child And Made You Shit Your Pants?

I wasn't a scaredy kid. I love watching horror movies during night and had no problem sleeping soundly after. Not until I was about 6 and a cousin from Mindanao moved in with us. She was taken to my big sister to look after my niece and because I would often go to my sister's house back then, the cousin would also take care of me.

So the cousin love, love telling stories. She has that voice that you would want to listen to and believe everything she says. On one occasion she was getting irritated with me because I wouldn't sleep and continued to run around the house like sugar crazed kid even after multiple warnings of her spanking me. In frustration she told me that she would tell me a story. I love it when she tells me story so I immediately settled down.

And then she told me about the Aswang (flesh eating monster that often prey pregnant woman) stories in their village in Mindanao nothing struck me with her stories but the notion that Aswang could shape shift into different kinds of animal at their free will. It could transform into dogs, cats, snake anything they want. I forgot everything that she told me but that one thing. It bugged me the whole night and the next morning I was running a fever.

Now, I am a child that firmly believes that I am safe as long as I am inside the house. That no monster could hurt me as long as I am inside. But the shape shifting news changed it all.

I panicked. For the entirety of my childhood after that story, I believed that Aswang could change into mosquitoes or little bugs and crawl in the cracks of doors and windows to take me. I swear, I would steal jars of salt in our pantry and pour salt underneath the main and every windows of our house and my sister's house! To ward the Aswang off. There was a time in my childhood that I refused to sleep with lights closed. And sometimes because being too scared I would pee in bed refusing to walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Years later I recalled the story to one of my brothers and he cracked laughing.

But until now, when I over think. I still believe that if monsters could shape shift maybe they can change into small insects and get me. Hoho.

Thats all for today. Thank you. Peace out!✌️

You made me laugh especially trying to sprinkle salt everywhere to ward off Aswang. One thing about me is that if I listen to any horror story or bad one, my imagination begins to play at me and I would think such story would come for me anytime. Lol
