Is this a team? How big?
There are 3 of us working on Realm full-time. But we have a bunch of other Devs we can call on for help if we need to.
How did you guys meet?
Ryan & I (Buzz) have been working together for 15+ years. Kirsten also spent some time working for the same company many years ago, which is how we all met originally. When Realm started to gain momentum we realized we needed some help to get our name out there & increase engagement while Ryano & I worked on the Dev side of things, so we got Kirsten on board to help us out. Now we've got the 'dream team!'
How did you get involved in crypto?
I started doing basic trades with main coins and old coins back in 2017. After that, with my Programming background, the interest turned to doing some work with smart contracts to integrate in to the Enterprise space (relative to where I was working at the time). That's how my love for smart contracts and crypto was formed!
How did you discover NFTs?
I first discovered NFT's from purchasing my first Crypto Kitties, back when they first came out. I've been a fan of NFT's ever since.
Why did you choose WAX for your project?
At the time, Ryano (our Dev) was already a big fan of WAX. I was currently programming Realm out on Flow to start out with but then decided to give WAX a shot, off the back of Ryano's recommendation, and we never looked back!
Where did the idea for the game come from?
The idea blossomed between myself and Ryano! We wanted to create a game that involved NFT's and the globe-style UI that you'll see in-game. We pieced the story together over many, many meetings. Then it transformed in to what you see as Realm today. It has not only been shaped by us, but by our community as well.
What inspired your game?
I guess a lot of things! Different game experiences from both myself & Ryano. But mainly we just wanted to create a game that we enjoyed playing ourselves, simple as that.
Can you give us a easy instructions on how to play?
Once you enter the game, first thing you need to do is assign an NFT Leader to the Region so you can start earning RLM (our token). This is only available to paid Leaders, not the free Leaders provided in-game (John & Jane). Next you need to build some buildings -- Factory, Storage Vault, Training Facility & Housing. Next up, train some Helpers in the Training Facility so you can send them on missions. Once you have a couple trained, you can send them off on a mission to begin to level up your Realm. That's pretty much the jest of it! There is a Game Guide in-game that will explain in more depth those first few steps and why you need to do each thing, so I would recommend new players go straight there the first time they log in!
Would you say your game is hard to play?
I wouldn't say "hard", but it is strategic. So there are a lot of different ways you can play it. We tried to keep a balance of making the onboarding process easy, but enough depth so that players continue wanting to come back & play.
When did launch?
We officially launched in January 2022, however we had a few rounds of beta & early access last year that went very well & we got some awesome feedback which helped us pivot some things making Realm in to the game it is today!

What was the first one you dropped?
The first NFT we dropped was our Realm Launch Promo!
How did the community react?
Really well! We had over 25,000 of the promo NFT's claimed. They are still in circulation to this day!
When the next drop? Sneak peak?
We will be looking at having another pack drop in between Season 3 & Season 4. Date is yet to be announced, but keep your eyes peeled on our social channels to find out more.
What is the process of making your NFT's?
Firstly, we acquire the artwork from our amazing artist, then render the animation through Unity 3D. After that, we make the actual NFT through the AtomicHub NFT Creator.
What programs you use for creation?
We use Adobe Photoshop, Unity 3D and AtomicHub.
How long does each NFT take to create?
Including the artwork iterations and animation work, each NFT takes close to a day or sometimes a little longer to create.
What is your favorite NFT you have made? Why?
Any of the 5 Star NFT's we're all big fans of... But specifically the 5 Star Trucker (our newest Leader NFT) would be my personal favorite. Kirsten's favorite is the Retro Celebrity. And Ryano has a soft spot for the 5 Star Gene.
Can you tell us a funny story about the team?
We had to create an EOSIO token for development and testing purposes before we created the RLM token. So we created a token that was named after our pet poodle. It has no utility (and very limited volume so it's not the best investment) but the price on market of it is still higher then most other game tokens out there.
What has been the best part of doing the project?
Being able to work on a project that we love with a great team. Good people creating great things, what more could you ask for?
What has been the hardest part?
The time difference between us & almost every other country who play Realm is probably the hardest thing to navigate, for us. Luckily we have such an amazing moderator team who can hold down the forte while we are sleeping PLUS navigating this bear market has also been really tough. Trying to work out the best time to do things and just trying to be patient and knowing that eventually it will come back and we need to be ready for that.

What is a feature you would love to add to the game?
We have a LOT of things in the pipeline that we want to bring bring into the game, but we are only a small team so have to prioritize our time Stay tuned on our socials as we will be dropping some announcements this week for what is coming in Season 6!
