Meet the Artist Super Crypto Cross

20 129

Welcome for another artist and this is a family business these are two brothers who create great motor cross pixel art . I got the chance to chat to one of the brothers today to find out more about there projects

How you today ?

Good

So what your name ?

Damon Warlick

Where you based by the way ?

I'm in Tennessee, USA right now, been here for about 10 years.

Oh southern comfort state

Yes sir lol. Born and raised in North Carolina couple hours from the beach, so I have had both experiences. Call both places home.

Nice which do you prefer ?

Well I live on a nice spot out in the country surrounded by trees and Nashville has become a booming place less than an hour out. But I do miss being able to run to the beach just on a whim. Family in both states so its gonna tie.

So going to guess you like motocross ?

Well my Dad is the biggest fan probably ever. We grew up watching many of the races. He has seen them all. Me and my brother have been to a few. It's a super cool sport for sure. We could not afford bikes as young kids but I've got two in the barn now.

Nice so is that were your NFT designs come from ?

Yeah, when I found out about NFTs I was first excited about the idea of investing in them. Soon after I started buying things, I started thinking that there was most likely very little to do with the sport of motocross/supercross out there, as a lot of what I was seeing was mostly either Elon Musk or dog from Dogecoin lol.

And often both.

When I found out about the crypto punks It came to me that you could come up with almost infinite combinations of styles if you went with dirt bike racing.

So it became a fun way that me and my brother could put something out that we thought was very cool, and kind of honor our Dad at the same time. So it does have a personal side to it.

So is it just you working on your NFT's ?

The bit bikes are me and my brother Travis Warlick. He is a really great artist. He put a few things out on opensea and other places early on. We realized you kind of had to have a following for anyone to notice or care, so I brought this idea to him. We were both shocked when people started picking up our bit bikes right away. We are very thankful that people like them. We figured maybe a few years down the line someone would find them and maybe buy a few.

Once the crypto cross thing kind of got going, he decided that WAX was a great place to begin developing his comic book and I kept on having visions of these little rock and roll guys. So eventually that became the Block Stars. My other little brother makes music so he sends me MP3s for the "albums" lol it's been a blast man.

I make the Block Star guys myself and me and Travis create the bit bikes together. His comic is going to be called the Mad Professor under the project name atomiccomics

So are you fans of the 8 bit genre ?

Yes, growing up in the early 90s with Nintendo and then Sega. Sega was 16 bit but still. I also like the challenge of trying to get an idea off in very limited pixels. It's fun. We can both draw really well, but he can paint and pen and spray and everything so his comics will be on another level from bit bikes skill wise. To me crypto cross wasn't about the skill of the art, more so a cool little mini universe to enjoy and collect. With our own style. We have magazines, tracks, trophies, rock stars and of course the babes. We continue to incorporate a little crossover in all 3 projects.

I had the 8bit but I have noticed a lot of younger people getting into 8 bit genre I love it myself like I grew up with it

Love the website I have to say your NFT's remind me of road rash !!!! Check it out for yourself here https://www.supercryptocross.com/

Loved that game. One of the best ever the first two especially for me. And then maybe it was 3rd one had the punk aspect with Soundgarden and others in the soundtrack.

Awh Soundgarden wow i just have blackhole sun in my head now lol so you said you where on Opensea first how long did you try that for ?

Just a few weeks, originally bit bikes were going to minted on there. When I went to create the project it wanted us to pay a fortune in gas for initial collection creation. So I started searching YouTube and found out about Wax. I'm so glad I did. I love it. I mean I had heard about it, but did not realize how perfect for NFTs. It's been great. Really cool people in the community as well.

Yea the community is great on WAX

I agree, I've been blown away by it and find myself promoting other artist more than myself usually.. Mainly because everyone has just been so cool to me, and there is plenty of great stuff on there.

Yea I like to promote most artist and of I come across new artist love to hit them up to see if they would like a chat about there project

It's a great idea. I read through a couple of your interviews and I will be sure to scan through that when I'm looking for something new to buy.

So how many sets collections have you dropped so far on WAX?

I've dropped crypto cross and block stars. I have another great idea that's nagging me but I'm not gonna do it. I have plenty to work on with what I've got now. Ideas are coming faster than I have time to create them.

So what's the other idea ?

Well I keep imagining these little caged fighters or martial arts dudes. You could call it the The National Fighting Tournament.. you know, The NFT. Lol. I don't know something like that, could have belts and arenas and card girls even animated knockouts. There's an idea for somebody.

That's sounds like a great little project to do

Yeah it does, but still got much left with the others. We have decided to cut off bit bikes at #447 (that was Dads bike number) but still have more tracks magazines and gear to make. So that project will have a "completion" but we have considered doing some animated bit bikes and I am dabbling in coding for some type of game. I'd love to do that if I can. So far I have figured out how to make the guy drive around in all directions, but that's like light years from a completed game.

So is this the full time job now ?

No, I have a resell business, so I'm home a lot but also have two little kids.

Try to work on NFTs daily. Sometimes its all hours of the night, other days just little here and there.

So how often do you drop new content for your collection ?

It's pretty random, usually an idea pops into my head and then I cant stop until its minted. Now that I have plenty of assets, that's how I've been doing it. At the very beginning I was dropping daily just to keep something available on the market. Now it's like when I cant help it, I just have to finish an idea, that's when I make it.

Daily how many hours you putting into your NFT's ?

Average probably 2 hours a day, but some days its 7-8 hours working on my stuff and others it's just me spending 30 minutes surfing wax seeing what's selling and changing hands and looking for things Id like to buy from others. So it's not a set schedule by any means.

Crypto in general in anyway, that's at least 4 hours per day, either making NFTs buying them, looking at the markets or watching YouTube videos about it. It's most of my free time.

So you are invest in crypto as well as NFT's ?

Yes since 2017. I wish I had known of NFTs back then. I had heard of Crypto Kitties referred to as a D'app or something. I did not look into it at the time. I bought crypto during the time it was getting closer to peaking. Watched my entire "portfolio" I guess you could call it, collapse, bought all the way through that to the bottom and have been amazed at this rise. It was a tough two years though. When I found out about NFTs around January I thought I was early. A month later the whole world knew about them.

I did well with BNB

Nice dip the past few days though. It doesn't feel like the bull run is over, but I'm not enjoying this dip lol.

Yea missed out on BNB

So who is your favorite artist ?

Artist in general would be Todd McFarlane. I loved his take on Spiderman and of course his creation Spawn. As a kid I only knew of Picasso, Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane lol.

My Grandmother ran an art studio in Raleigh NC, so I knew her too lol.

I've got a few McFarlane comics on my walls and as well as some action figures by him.

Loved spawn

Is there an artist in the NFT world ?

Be hard to say favorite, in the wax world I like @byrontheartist and the cyberporn artist. You can pick out there styles from a mile away. Both cool people. Others on wax as well. I like Fewocious a lot because she is a down to earth girl, really nice, plus an interview with her is where I first heard about NFTs. Her style is unique as well.

I dnt know fewocious but I have interviewed both byron and cyberporn to great artists

Most of her stuff is on the Ethereum blockchain, maybe she will put something on wax one day. Pretty big name in the NFT world.

Oh really lol Will defiantly look them

I never really look at the Ethereum market way out of my league

So are you open to Collab's ?

Yes I am. I dont have any concrete ideas as to who or how I'd do it. But I'm open to it for sure. If something good hits me I will reach out for sure. We could do a zombie helmet using Byron's stuff pretty easily.

The next track I make I am going to promote some other artists/projects on some track banners no doubt. I don't think anyone would mind.

Of course not its great to give out free promotion so I am putting it out there your open for Collab's as well

Awesome, well I just had a great idea and I'll make sure Meet the artist is included.

Oh love that idea 😍😍😍

So what programs you using for designing your NFT's ?

Right now I'm just using paint.net, an online gif creator called ezgif, and kapwing video cropper and my brother uses procreate for helmet designs and his comics. My stuff usually doesn't require anything too complicated. I am using unity while learning the game creation process. Fruity loops for the music on the albums.

And how long these it take from thought to finished NFT ?

Depends on what it is. These animated ones take me several hours. I probably am doing it very primitive way but I have to set up each frame moving things around in separate layers. Saving and combining the layers and then backing out moving them around again.. But am learning new skills all the time. All the rockers will eventually have animated versions with music playing. I got a lot planned. A bit bike only takes about 30 to 45 minutes but it's getting harder to make sure that there are no copies and each is completely individual 1 of 1s.

What music you thinking of using ?

We make our own music, the first album is original "clips" a few seconds each I made a few and the better ones made by youngest brother Michael who is a whizz on fruity loops. We will not be using anything that's already in existence.

I've got a few ready to go for a second album from one of the other bands. Once all 4 bandmembers come out the first "album" will .come out, I have to design a cover.

All 4 band members for UFO are minted so their first album has dropped.

Fun part about Block Stars is coming up with a name for each member, what town they come from, band name, album cover and album title. Crackers is a great name for a guitar player by the way lol.

Its my nickname from when I was a teen

So is it fun working with your brother on the project ?

Yes he lives in NC, so I get to connect with him a lot more recently because of NFTs. And my Dad who lives there too is paying attention to it a little more thanks to the bitbikes. Michael lives down the road from me, I'm gradually getting him involved through the MP3s and albums. It's become a family affair lol. I am also glad that people around me are learning about crypto finally as well.

So you are keeping it in the family lol

what's your favorite NFT you have designed can we have a pic ?

Bit Bike #1 is way up there because it started it all but I'd probably say CRT Racer #1 the magazine cover came out so good, it's probably my favorite.

That is cool and is the QR code active ?

It's my wax wallet, should be active.

Grew up with stacks of Dirt magazine and racerx magazine around the house so this was a no brainer for me. Newer issues have developing storylines and intend to go further with this.

That is cool and great way to interact with NFT community

Yeah it's easy to throw in ads and articles. Maybe this interview could appear in an issue, tons of possibilities to interact.

Yea its basically your private newsletter 📰📰📰📰📰

What's your Twitter ?

https://twitter.com/cryptocross1?s=20

Total deservers a follow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never asked do you have a telegram channel

No, I just set this up. I thought I had used telegram before but I guess not. I will have to learn what a channel is. Feels like i already have 50 million logins but I will get this going.

Telegram is great channel to have to chat to the community

Good to know. I will spend some time on here then.

It would be worth

Have you always been artistic ?

Yes, me and my brother spent a lot of time drawing comic book characters as kids. He never looked back and has far surpassed me now but we have always been known as pretty decent artists in our little circles.

Any old pics of your drawings

Yeah I got this one from 20 years ago.

That's class

Never asked are you white listed on Atomichub ?

Yes both projects are whitelisted.

Are you going to try get on tokenheadz app ?

I'm looking it up now. I've heard this name mentioned but just now seeing what it is. You think they allow all of your wax NFTs or just allow the triple A projects? Is this live yet?

I'm gonna download it and check it out.

Do !!!!!!

What hobbies do you ? What you do for fun ?

Hobbies are probably sports card collecting. Buying selling flipping. I have a great collection. For fun probably video games and we do a little traveling.

I've gotten a little carried away with the Topps wax project but I think I'm good where I'm at back to supporting the community. Topps having success is a good thing for the whole community I would say. But rather see smaller artist get more sales.

What you think of Funko pop coming into the wax market ?

That's awesome, I only own two physical ones, the Evel Knievel one and a custom Joker, but I've always thought they were kind of cool just have no room to display anymore Collectibles.

I did have like 40 of them at one point two kids later left with 5 for sale if anyone interested lol

It will be good for the market new fans

Lol I'll let em know. Yeah will be good for Wax to keep getting these big name deals. I feel the token is way undervalued.

Yea has dropped back down to .15 cent

So tell us something random about you?

I played point guard for my highschool basketball team, I started and am a little tiny dude of only 5'7.

Ha ha

Yeah I was about 16 when coach took us to a real college game. That night I realized, never making it very far with this. Lol

Where can we find find your cards for sale ?

I have an eBay store called Diamond Kingz I currently have about 30 graded cards listed and about 100 more on my desk that need to be listed right now. I've been busy. That's my full time job and we are building a resell building out back so we can have our house back. I got stuff everywhere. I sell pretty much anything.

NFT's are much easier to store, be nice to gradually switch over full time to that. Maybe another day.

So do you have any listed on Atomichub?

No these are physical cards I sell on ebay. My Topps NFTs I picked up most are listed pretty high. I expect more baseball collectors to gradually figure out wax and want these cards. Set 1 seems like its gonna be important maybe.

Anything I have for sale on Wax can be found at o3fb.wam under active listings. All kinds of stuff on there.

Brilliant IL create a link for it

https://wax.atomichub.io/explorer/collection/cryptocross1

https://wax.atomichub.io/explorer/collection/blockstarrzz

My two whitelisted collection names are cryptocross1 and blockstarrzz by the way. (they made me use 12 characters with no spaces) that's how you find them in the market. Official names are Super Crypto Cross and Block Stars. Website is www.supercryptocross.com

You got any collections going?

No not an artist I just like to promote artists 😁😁😁😁

Well I appreciate it, I'll make sure to keep spreading the word. Anything else? I've got a few more minutes.

Any chance of a drop for the readers ?

gladly mint some assets to people reading this if there is a way for me to see who they are. I will be using read.cash after this.

Is there anything you want to add IL happy put it in ?

Aaaah, the cross-game from that old SNES rip-off console... the memories I have of it :D Really awesome art. I have been thinking about NFT and I have a doubt crackers. If the hosting service hosting the jpg images of the NFT goes down, will the NFT be a 404 page?

$ 0.00

Well that is a good question, I know that the NFT will not be a 404 page inside my wallet, and they can be hosted on other "exchanges" but yeah I guess if atomichub were to go away, then it would get harder to find these. I've seen some other peoples same stuff on other exchanges but I actually have not learned how all this works just yet. Gave me something to do, thanks for the kind words!
