Meet the artist behind Bee Tee Bee

0 52

This is a brand new project only starting out trying to find its ground in the Wax world who wants to create 1 of 1 NFT project which is hard to do but his work is good and I think it will take off .

Hey man

Hey! good to see its working. I haven't used telegram a ton. So bare with me.

No worries lol . How you man?

I am doing great! snowing like crazy in Calgary right now, so might try to get out sometime this week with the dog and go XC skiing !

Oh nice no snow here sadly . How's the project coming along?

Its going good! I just finished up a new one called " Wandering Sky". Which is an animation in which I recorded my own guitar riff into the animation. Something i think I will be doing more of in the future. As it was incredibly fun to do!

Are you in crypto long?

Off and on for years. Was really into it in 2016 and 2017 but just getting back into it now, which is really cool to see how far along it has come. I remember when Cryptokitties was all the rage and now to see all these amazing marketplaces show up these days is amazing. I get that people are down cause its a bear market, but crypto has truly come a long way in the last 7 years.

When did you come across Wax?

Just a few months ago. I was looking around at all the NFT blockchains. I didn't really want to mess around with anything like ETH, cause of the price and just wanted something that I could use to put my animations on. Also seemed like there were some cool people on here, such as Nifty BC and yourself. I am a big fan of the podcast on Saturdays ... even if the draws are 100% rigged .

I think the Wax community is the most welcoming and no the draws aren't rigged honestly . What made you get into creating?

Absolutely, I haven't been able to engage with a ton of people yet as nobody really knows who I am, but from what I hear on the twitter spaces and podcast, there definitely seems to be a good crew of people here! Even in this bear market. I know the draws aren't rigged but its basically part of the tagline now!😆😆

So I have to admit I am fairly new to animation, its something that I always wanted to do but wasn't sure how to get into it. I always thought you had to go to school or buy some super fancy computer to get into it. Lets just say finding the open sourced software Blender was a game changer for me ! It allowed me the ability to experiment without spending any money at all ! Not knowing what your going to end up with in the end is the entire reason I do this. Its only an experiment is the outcome is truly unknown. Even if all my animations will be obsolete when are AI overloads take over in 5 years :)

What the idea behind the project?

So, I think the idea behind my projects is to just have fun, learn and also improve my skills. I am still trying to figure everything out. Right now I am just trying not to limit my creativity and box myself in to a specific style. If my stuff sells wonderful and if not, that's ok too! Its all about exploration for me right now , and the freedom to do what I want with 0 restrictions. Hopefully people enjoy them but for right now its 100% a selfish embarkment. I feel like joining wax was good idea just to meet like minded artists out there, as i think most people in my "real" life don't really understand the NFT space quite yet. And with all this negative press lately, it still may take some time. However it will happen, not sure exactly how .. but it will, the technology behind it is undeniable, and its only a matter of time before a big player changes the game in the space.

Also I must say I really admire what you are doing in the space! actively seeking out artists and interviewing them. Its people like you that keep this community rolling! We are the heartbeat of WAX. I see all this clicker games they are creating and don't think that its sustainable in the long run! Building a strong community is the key here, which is also why I joined WAX

Thank you its fun for me honestly loving pushing artists into the limelight I remember you saying you were going to do 1 of 1s is it staying that way?

I will keep it that way. I know WAX is tailored towards multiple mints, packs blends etc., however. I just personally like the idea of giving a collector a unique 1 of 1 animations you won't be able to get anywhere else. I do also understand that probably don't have the social following to be selling 1 or 1s, but that is also ok right now; as its letting me build up quite a catalogue of 1 of 1 animations. its all a growing process for me and the more work I can put out there the better. If things sell is secondary to me. I think selling 1 of 1s is the more difficult path to take, but that is ok too. Like I said progression over profits. That sounds like a terrible 80's punk band name BTW.

So guessing from your name they will be bee related?

I like to hide a BEEDEEBEE reference in all my animations someway or another :) as an easter egg you can see the BEEDEEBEE logo in the cobblestone pathway in the newest one "Wandering Sky". I don't know, just a think I do but my plan is to just let the animation take wherever it takes me. That's the fun part for me . Loving the advent calendar BTW, it's been fun seeing all the different artists. Helping a newbie like myself see all the talent in the space! You may find this funny. but my name was actually suppose to be my initials , "BEE TEE BEE", however I had a brain fart and put "BEE DEE BEE" when creating my was wallet.. and because I am too cheap to pay for another wallet "BEE DEE BEE" was born !

Ha ha ha when did you launch your project?

Beginning of October 2022.

What was the first NFT you dropped?

My first drop was an animation titled "Bad Noodles" . Sort of an accolade to the Japanese Samurai. I just watched the movie "Three Outlaw Samurai" from 1964 and was feeling a little inspired .

Did it sell?

Nope, not yet :)

How many NFTs have you created since?

I have 10 fully animated NFTs currently. I also create comedy shorts with two other comedians which are titled "Vanilla Tang" , which are also in my drop page . They are a little vulgar so, viewer discretion is advised. And goes without saying my girlfriend isn't a fan... 😅 but hey, we can't win them all!

Of course cant keep everyone happy. How do you create your NFTs?

All open sourced software! I primarily use Blender Grease Pencil for the animating and GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), which is a pixel based alternative to Photoshop. I try to steer away from anything that isn't open sourced, because I believe these tools should be available for everybody! I want people to watch my animations and say, "hey I want to try that!", and not be limited by some ridiculous barrier to entry. People need the ability to experiment without spending 100s or 1000s of dollars on software.

Where the ideas come from?

I wish I knew ! Sometimes random thoughts, dreams, images. Other times from something I saw in movie. Some of it has a little preplanned structure to it. Animating is a bit easier if you have some sort of plan beforehand; However, most of the time, i have no idea how its going to try out until its finished. Hopefully this will change as my skill improves, as there are a lot of pieces that get scrapped in the madness.

What has been your favorite to create?

My personally favorite is one titled "What really happened on July 20th, 1969" , which is a parody of Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" , who is my favorite director.

Is there room in your project for collabs?

Absolutely! I was actually trying to see if I could get a hold of a bunch of animators on WAX to do a big collab of some sort, but I don't have much of a sway in the community yet :) So if your an animator reading this ! Send me a DM please! :) I'm here for a goodtime not a long time!!! ;)

Do you collect NFTs yourself?

I just started! I got a few. Looking to get more ! I am a big fan of Crypto Flash, Robert Bohn, Nifty, Art of Clark, and Sshhooee. However I am also discovering a bunch of other great artists just threw your Advent Calendar release . Thanks for doing that !

Is there an artist you are loving?

Digging what BreadlyToast has been putting out! I love the colors and tone he uses for his animations. Definitely stands out from the others and creates a cool style/brand.

What has been the hardest part of doing your project?

I think just learning Blender. Its taking me months just to feel confident enough on the most basics stuff. Its a beast of a program, but if you stick it out, its truly worth the time. The possibilities are endless with that program !

What's been the best part?

haha , well ..... might sound like a broken record here but..... Learning Blender. Like I said learning the program opens all sorts of creative possibilities I never thought was possible to me. I am most definitely a Blender fan boy now.

What your family think of your project?

Well my parents most definitely do not get it. I think the crypto barrier scares off a lot of people, unfortunately. Hoping that changes in the future . However, my brothers a fan. I managed to walk him through all the steps to create a wallet and he's started collect a few different artists on WAX.

What's the long term plan for the project?

I would love to create a animated series comedy series. However I know I am a long ways out from doing that. Just the logistics and hours involved is too much for me to take on solo. think right now I just focus on creating and meeting other talented artist who maybe in the future could help turn this dream into a reality.

What you like to do to unwind?

To unwind I do a lot of exercising. I am a cardio addict, and my drug of choice is trial running :) . Taken on a few ultra marathons in the last few years. I just love the idea of pushing your body to the brink of disaster, i am bit of a masochist I guess.

Tell us something random about?

Something random. I once met Mr. T at a hotel and made him say "i pity da fool". Probably the best day of my entire life.

When your next drop?

Next drop was actually this Wednesday.

Where can we buy your NFTs?

You can find all my NFTS on NeftyBlocks: https://neftyblocks.com/collection/beedeebeeeee

Anything else you would like to add?

I'd just like to add. That if you are true artist in the space, it shouldn't matter what the price of WAX is, just keep creating. just remember when times get hard:

"yesterdays is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That's why its called the present"
