Meet one of the Clashdome

5 95

So with so many games appearing on WAX promising to the next big thing this is one game that seems to be on a lot peoples mind and so I had to reach out and find out more about the project .

How are you?
Good, trying my best to catch up the pace after the holiday break.

Is this a team ? How big ? How you guys meet ?
ClashDome is currently run by a team of 6 people working together in an office and a couple of freelancers working part-time remotely.

How did you get involved in crypto?
Not that long ago we ran a game development studio, making licensable HTML5 games but also taking commissions from clients. One of these clients were running a Layer 2 project on Ethereum, and from that moment, we as a team got involved with crypto.

How did you get discover NFTs?

We have heard of Cryptopunks and Crypto Kitties, but by then we hadn’t paid much attention to the concept. Digital scarcity seemed a scammy idea, but as you start thinking about it and the ownership of digital assets, the whole concept starts to sink in and makes a lot of sense. We only started paying more attention to NFTs after we released our project in WAX.

Why did you choose WAX for your project ?
One acquaintance from the gamedev business (Josep Rosich from EOS Barcelona) got involved in WAX, to the point he got the Official Inspector General role. In order to embark more projects and bring utility to the WAXP token he made a round of contacts with studios he knew. He offered us a grant of the equivalent to 5,000 US Dollars to start building a project in WAX. Creating a blockchain project was already under our radar, so it made sense taking that opportunity. Little did we know by then that the gas-less policy would play a significant role in the way we’d shape our project.

What is the idea behind your project ?

We are building a portal of casual games that bring actual playable games to the sometimes limited blockchain environment. Since we have expertise as game developers we are exploring the limitations to the technology and the use of NFT, as we did back in the day with the HTML5 technology, pushing up new boundaries.

We want to bring in blockchain noobs to our portal, and lower the entry barriers for them but also for experts. Crypto users suffer a worrying case of infoxication, so that’s why we want to take a casual approach to what blockchain gaming can be. No need to read thorough whitepapers or study unnecessarily complex economic systems. If you know how to play a match-3 game, pool, or a tower defense, then you’re ready to start playing at ClashDome.

When did launch ?
Back in August 2020.

How many NFTs have you dropped so far ?

16,700 NFTs and 2,000 templates. Roughly.

What was the first one you dropped?

An Endless Siege memorial NFT

(https://wax.atomichub.io/explorer/asset/1099512481151). It’s based on our tower defense game and was dropped to the first 100 players we had. Before this one there a couple trial and errors (misscarried NFTs) that aren’t part of the official collection, but are some sort of memorabilia, I guess.

How did the community react?
I guess some people liked it and others tried to flip it as soon as they noticed it. The community wasn’t very talkative by then.

When the next drop ? Sneak peak ?
By the end of June we implemented the most basic version of our Shop, since that moment we are having weekly sales of limited items sold in our main token (Ludio). So the next sale will be on September 5th. While we know it will be a decoration item for the Citizens’ apartment we still don’t know exactly what will it be, since we want to run a poll to let the players decide what sort of item they prefer.

What is the process of making your NFTs ?

Depends on their utility, but for decorative items we make some rough sketches (soon to be replaced by AI generated concepts with MidJourney) and then we make the sketch, fine tune, make the final vector art, export the assets to be used in the game, and the backup NFT. We compress the image using TinyPNG, create the text description and then the template. Another cool example is our Citizen NFTs, all of them are 1 of 1s custom made by the players, so the template is dynamically created on the fly.

What programs you use for creation ?
Photoshop and Animate (aka Flash). MidJourney for concepts too.

How long this each NFT take to create ?
Varies drastically. Setting up the whole system of Citizen customization took a couple of months. But simpler stuff like decorative items can be ready in matter of 4-8 hours.

What is your favorite NFT you have made ? Why ?
The packs of Rug Pool halls have a great illustration, but all the technology and concept behind the Citizens is a more multifaceted feat. There’s particularly one Citizen specially unrepeatable, a buggy mint featuring a Pleb Citizen looking like princess Leia, with a headset trait that normally wouldn’t be accessible for its social class.

That one and also the first minted Citizen, aka Citizen Zero .

Have you done any collabs ?
A few of them, but none involving cross-breeding two NFT collections.

Who would be your dream collab ?
I don’t think I have a dream collab, other that working with illustrators I love but are out of reach. As a more feasible collab, I’d love to collaborate with Senor Lupe.

Are you a collector of nfts ?
I have thousands of NFTs from almost 800 different collections, but somehow I don’t think of myself as a collector of NFTs. A hodler maybe.

Who is your favourite nft artist ?
Genuine Human @GenuineHumanArt

What has been the best part of doing your project ?
The best is yet to come, but so far, being able to quit our gamedev studioand  depending on clients is a great experience.

What has been the hardest part ?
Stabilizing the tokenomics and reaching out to new players.

What does your family think of your project ?
Communication isn’t our top skill, but they’re grateful that the project keeps getting bigger and is a steady income source. During bullish times they must have thought I was delusional though…

Have you introduced anyone to WAX ?

Yes, plenty of them. Most of them didn’t get the vibe though, but the one that fully embraced WAX is extremely happy, (richer) and enthusiastic.

Tell us something random about you ?
I could sail a boat, not anymore. Had a cat with AIDS, not anymore. And I had a single hair growing in the sole of my foot, not anymore.

Where is the best place to keep up with the project ?
Our Discord channel.

Where can we keep up with the project ?

Where can we buy your nfts ?
You can find them at secondary markets like Atomic Hub, NeftyBlocks, NFT Hive but also you can participate in primary sales in our shop.
Here’s a link to our collection: ttps://wax.atomichub.io/explorer/collection/clashdomenft

When is the next drop ?
Every Monday we have small drops, normally with just 20-60 mints. The next big drop will take at least 3-4 months from now.

Any chance of a drop or competition for the readers?
The first 5 readers that share their account with you can get a Citizen Dummy so they can try our games for free. They should keep in mind that the Dummy NFT is not transferable though, meaning that it can’t be flipped, so it’s meant for people that are genuinely interested in the portal and games.

Is there anything you would like to add or say before we finish ?
We deserve a safer blockchain environment, getting rid of abusers and scammers. We all are responsible for this since FOMO and greed is their ally. By curbing our expectations, being more critic and making some research we can shut the doors to some of these toxic people preying on unaware users. WAX is in serious need of a cleanse of scammers (fake projects and users) before its reputation gets even more affected.
