Small stash BTC holders are gonna get Rekt

Small blocks, high fees, and the Bitcoin UTXO model are a receipt for disaster for small holders. They are going to be stuck with worthless holdings.

If the fee to move or combine a UTXO is higher than its value, the UTXO is worthless.

Yes, holding your own keys is excellent advice. However, I don't think most smaller BTC holders know about UTXOs. They also do not know how increasing BTC fees are going to impact them on the BTC chain. Small UTXOs are soon going to be worthless. $15 (0.0002413 BTC) UTXOs are already worthless. Even when batched with others in one transaction $10 (0.0001609 BTC) UTXOs are worthless.

As the Fees rise... soon even $100 (0.001610 BTC) UTXOs will be worth nothing.

Yes, the UX in most modern wallets are great. They hide all of the weird complexity of the UXTO model. That is a huge weakness when the fees rise. Especially when the BTC Maximalist community is preaching "Stack Sats" meaning, put even small amounts into Bitcoin. No problem if you are Michael Saylor and putting $25M per transaction. But if a small timer is putting in $25 and feeling good about it they are in for a rude awakening as the fees rise.

I experienced this back in 2018. I combined a bunch of my smaller UTXOs into one transaction and paid $168 in fees, more than many of the individual coins. Looking at the next graph, my timing was quite poor. The beginning of 2018 was clearly the worst time to do it. . . . so far.

Fortunately, there is likely still time. On weekends the fees generally drop quite a bit. The BTC mempool does not fully clear on weekends but it is less costly to get a transaction in.

Bitcoin Cash with its larger blocks does not have this issue. The upward fee pressure is not there, even with the transaction count now beating BTC. If you our your friends have BTC check your UTXOs. If the current increasing fee trend continues don't let your BTC become worthless. Combine into bigger chunks and hold.. better yet, convert to BCH and don't worry about it.

Either way, I don't want the smaller holders to lose. I want us all to have financial freedom. You all deserve Individual Sovereignty.

If you know of other efforts out there to help small BTC holders be aware of this issue I'd love to know about it.

Many don't understand that the bitcoin high fees also burns people's money but I think that people are finding out that the hard way and they are taking their own decisions and exchanging into something else, the censorship is so that if you are not happy with fees you can't spread that to others, but people are looking for answer on their own. And finding out the lies that Bitcoin Core supporters say.

That is an excellent point. People in the r/bitcoin community should know about this "high fees burn money" issue, but it will be censored. Sadly individuals will find out on their own when they attempt to send a transaction. They will still have nowhere to turn, if they ask an innocent question about it they will likely be considered a troll and shut down.

Yeap meanwhile they hope those holding burn inputs don't find out about it until is too late. But that's what we have to do as BCH supporters
