In electrochemical cells electricity is generated by a chemical change the reverse is also possible an electric current can be used to bring about a chemical change, some common terms used in electrolysis are as follows.

  1. Electrolysis - this is the chemical decomposition of a compound brought about by a direct current passing through a dissolution of the compound or the molten compound.

  2. Electrolytes - this is a compound which conduct electricity and is decomposed in the process to behave as an electrolyte the compound must be in a liquid form either as a molten compound or an aqueous solution of the compound anon electrolyte does not conduct electricity in this manner electrolyte conduct electric current by movement of ions.

  3. Electrode - these are conductors in the form of wires rods or plates through which an electric current enters or leaves the electrolytes.

  4. Arnold - this is the positive electrode by which the conventional current and Thursday electrolyte (or by which electrons leave the electrolyte), it is the electrode which is joined to the positive terminal of the electric supply.

  5. Cathode - this is the negative electrode by which the conventional current leaves the electrolyte (or by which electrons enter the electrolyte), it is the electrode which is joined to the negative terminal of the electric supply.

This topic in chemistry is among the best for me, electrolysis, hydrocarbon, fractional distillation, etc. I enjoyed them more

Definitely you are a good chemist. By the time I started reading this post about chemistry, I remembered the time when I was in secondary school. Our chemistry teachers are more than good
