This is a quick statement on my feelings as both an individual token holder and my stance as an EOS vote proxy.
EOSIO is a piece of open source software that anyone can use.
Bitcoin has its clones, too. The more competition the better. Competition breeds innovation. This is never more true than in the crypto space.
My biggest desire as an EOS genesis ICO token holder would be for block.one to openly state its devotion to the EOS mainnet, specifically.
Currently we have a block.one that only seems to state broad dedications to the entire EOSIO ecosystem, even including those chains that did not financially fund block.one through the ICO, like EOS mainnet investors did.
Brendan Blumer, the CEO of block.one, has explained how he likes to strike a balance between:
1. Releasing some information (at fear of being told he is not being transparent enough) and
2. The desire wait to announce releases when they are ready, much like Apple.
I feel like we are leaning a bit too heavily in the "no information until release" direction.
More clarity, in regard to the EOS mainnet roadmap, specifically, would be greatly appreciated.
A truly decentralized blockchain should be self-sufficient, governance-wise. In my opinion it points to a deficiency in DPOS that we should in any way feel reliant upon a central authority such as block.one. The chain should govern itself entirely.
The reason for governance proposals such as Dan Larimer's staking pool idea and EOS New York's governance proposal were to improve upon observed shortcomings in governance. To date, we have heard almost nothing in regard to these ventures. In regard to this, recently Kevin Rose of block.one made a statement that βhigher impact proposalsβ were being worked on. As an EOS genesis ICO token holder I can only hope this statement comes true. I wish we had more information about it. We do not because none has been shared.
Let's continue to seek and achieve a greater alignment of EOS ICO investors and block.one with the EOS mainnet specifically.
