Where will the Bitcoin price top be? How will we know when we're there?
It's going to be difficult to time to top and not feel like "I just missed the bull run, and now we're in a bear market again". It can be a truly nerve-wracking experience and that's going to be a very difficult emotion to combat. We use metrics to help us remove the emotion.
No one is going to know exactly how high the bull run is going to go.
But I think it's better to have a plan than no plan at all.
We use many different charts and analysis methods to help us make the best GUESS as to where to top will be. Indicators gives us better odds of being closer to the top.
With the Colin Talks Crypto Bitcoin Bull Run Index (CBBI), we cross reference 8 different metrics with the Bitcoin price to determine where the top may be, i.e. 2 year moving average, Stock-to-Flow, The Pi Cycle Top, Trololo trend line, NUPL chart, Puell Multiple, Google search trend for "bitcoin", etc.

I consider BTC to be so price-manipulated that actual metrics that work will be estimating the behavior of the manipulators rather than estimating any sort of organic value growth. Lack of growing adoption by businesses or public-use growth leaves manipulation as the likely basis for price growth. That said, I do appreciate the effort involved and hope the manipulators follow their past patterns and crypto goes ballistic again as you suggest.
The rest of crypto will be mirroring BTC as usual until one or more of them become useful to business and/or the world's people for more than just speculative price growth hopes. BCH can get serious about becoming useful once it can scale for massive worldwide adoption, so keep an eye out for news of that development hurdle getting solved. That's all a real p2p-Bitcoin needs to be able to get serious about changing the world for the better.
