Various studies have shown that the chances of dying on a plane journey are actually very approximately 95% of the plane crashes have survivors. According to the stats available, one would have to board a flight every day for good 55,000 years before encountering a deadly plane accident. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, even passengers on board of the most destructive plane crashes survive at a rate of 76 percent. Having said that, one has to be very well prepared for any unpleasant incident during the flight journey.
Following are the steps that need to be taken up if unfortunately, the flight crashes-
Preparation for the Flight
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
If you are traveling to a colder region, carry a jacket along with you.
Prefer to sit in the tail of the aircraft as the survival rates(in case of plane crash) is 40% more.
Read the manual of safety rules properly and thoroughly.
Carefully listen to the instructions given by the cabin crew.
Be aware of the exit door nearest to your seat
Put on the safety belt throughout your flight journey. Remove it only after you have been instructed to do so by the cabin crew
2. Surviving the Unfortunate Crash
Keep calm and don’t panic.
Try to properly analyze the situation by not losing your calm.
Wear the life jacket and the oxygen mask before helping /guiding others to do so.
Try to reach the nearest exit door
Listen carefully and calmly to the instructions by the cabin crew and try to co-operate with them to the maximum
In case of any smoke, avoid inhaling it
Try to get out of the crashed plane as soon as possible without pushing the other co-passengers or adding more chaos
Just forget about your luggage and try to save your life and if possible, the lives of other co-passengers
If the crashed plane has landed in a lonely area, try staying away at a distance of 500 feet from the plane as post the crash, there are chances that the plane might catch fire. If the crashed plane has landed in a water body, try to swim to the shore for survival. Try to stay in a group with the other co-passengers, don’t try to aloof yourself as you might get lost at an unknown place. Try to stay calm and positive and boost the morale of other co-passengers
Wait for the rescue team to arrive at the spot or try to get help from the locals.
