This is the generation
With no head or tail
A generation
With rotten eggs
But who is to blame
If not the before generation
This is a generation
Where parents separate
Forgetting their own children
Everyone goes his or her own way
The father marries
And the mother gets married
They start a new life
Forgetting their past
A child is left
To wander in the streets
His or her sibling on his or her own back
Torn are their clothes
Yet if asked
They will tell you
I had a mother and father
But I don't know where they are
A generation where
A child can raise his or her voice
At his or her parents
Just because
A parent said he or she can't afford
To buy them something
A generation where
A parent buys the child a camera
Just for them to go
Take nude photos and
Post them on social media
And we blame the social media
Yet its helpful if used well
A generation where nobody
Looks into
Their children's life
Just because
They think they are responsible
Or they are too busy
Even to think of them
A generation where
A brother
Lies with the sister
And in three days
She is running to the toilet
Just to vomit
Due to the smell of fish
Yet its her favourite food
She is pregnant
But who is there to enquire
If the parents are busy
This is still the generation
A father takes advantage
Of his own daughter
And he can't feel
The guilt
The generation where
Though a woman
Has voice
She still dwells in the past
Believing in the african traditions
That a woman has no voice
A generation where
A child knows much
More than his or her own parents
She becomes the teacher
He becomes the teacher
Not the student
This is the generation
This is my generation
The generation I live in.
