3 Estates in Nairobi Known For Daytime Prostitution and Drug Trafficking

Prostitution and drug trafficking are considered to be illegal in Kenya as stipulated by the law. However, if you happen to go around Nairobi downtown area, along River Road and Kirinyaga road, you will meet young women in their semi-naked outfit ready to quench your thirst. What worries more is that the business starts as early as 7.30 AM with no interruption from the police officers, who patrol the area. After the outbreak of Coronavirus, market sellers have decided to take services next to your doors in broad daylight. These are estates where drug trafficking and prostitution takes place like any other business in daylight.

Kayole Estate.

If you happen to go around Nyamavilla and its environs, you will be able to see young girls lined up in corridors with deam light. Sex is offered there for as low as sh100. Also, one can get other drugs like Marijuana and cocaine just as simple as getting tomatoes in the market. ''We get clients from different areas who work in mjengo and others who visit this place to enjoy themselves'', said one lady Sharonne which is not her real name.

Shauri Moyo and Majengo

The area which is known as one of the oldest estates in Nairobi is considered to be the hub for drug trafficking and prostitution. If you happen to visit the place during day time, you will notice there are corridors with white sheets. If you happen to pass through the corridors, you will meet the crowd of women in their sexy minidresses and shorts ready to deliver their goodies at a cheap price. Unfortunately, most of them are either Ugandans or Congolese.

Pipeline Estate.

This is the famous estate with a population of more than 1 million. If you happen to go around, you will notice young girls as low as 15 years loitering around wearing tights with micro tops exposing their waist to the public. Clubs here operates daily regardless of the measures set up by the government. ''We are forced to do this because we don’t have jobs and we need to pay rent, buy food and pay for our dailies'', said Jane, one of the quencher from Aston Villa area, pipeline.

The government has taken a good step with coming up with Kazi Mtani programme which is aiming at reducing the youth poverty level in our estates. The government should also create more slots to accommodate more youths in this programme.
