First Day of Holy Month
March 23, 2023
Ramadan Mubarak to all our Muslim brothers and sisters.
Muslims will mark the first day of Ramadan today. The month traditionally begins and ends based on the sighting of the new moon since the new moon indicates the beginning of a new month.
This month is the biggest festival for Muslims around the world they are preparing for what they consider the holiest month the auspicious time for reflection, contemplation, and celebration.
Me being here in Muslim countries for about six years I know their culture and traditions of how they celebrate Ramadan.
They fast between 11 to 16 hours depending on the time of year for a period of 29 to 30 days The purpose of fasting is to gain greater God-consciousness and a greater incentive to do good and avoid wrong. And also to feel compassion for the hungry and less fortunate people.
Who does fasting?
Those Muslims that reached puberty but those who are an ill person or anyone who is sick, pregnant, or those who can't fast due to some circumstances.
Why mostly household workers busy during Ramadan?
During these months those workers as a housekeeper here in the middle east experience hardship in this time as every family have their traditions that during the break of fast, they must eat together with the whole family.
We prepare a lot of food and serve them and after that, we still wait for them until dawn as again they eat for them to be ready for fast that's why we are having a hard time during this month as we adjusted our time for sleeping plus a lot of plates to be a wash, and of course including the attitude of the employer which sometimes causes as headache lol.
Closing words
That's all for me today as am having a busy day today but I am thankful as I am still able to update here to you all.
Blessed holiday!
