How many Superheros you know other than Marvel and DC? Today we are going to talk about most underrated superhero masterpiece movie trilogy. Unbreakable, Split and Glass are the three movies also known as Eastrail 177 Trilogy. This Trilogy shown us a different world and perspective of Superheros.
Watchman, Dawn of Justice and Civil War were also good but this trilogy is more than good but no one is talking about it. Everyone just want light hearted entertainment. This is not about I don't like Marvel and DC but we want to see more realistic superhero movies too.
INTRODUCTION
This underrated superhero masterpiece trilogy started in 2000 with the movie Unbreakable. The main character David Dunn is a common man doing job as a security guard but he is not happy in his life. He never got sick in his entire life. He survived a train crash like nothing happened to him. He never realized that he has superhuman strength, super stamina, nigh-invulnerability and telepathic like powers.
The next main character in this Eastrail 177 Trilogy is Elijah Prince a.k.a Mr. Glass. He has super intelligence. Intelligence like if he want to find someone, he will, although he had to kill hundreds of people. Even he will be ready to die to achieve his goal.
The 3rd character of this Eastrail 177 Trilogy is a hero.... maybe villian... I don't know what to call him but He did a splendid acting in the movie. This character's name is Kevin Wendell Crumb. His superhuman abilities are of his other identities because he has Dissociative Identity Disorder. He has 24 different personalities. Other than Kevin Wendell Crumb, he is Patricia, Hedwig, Dennis, Jade, Orwell, Heinrich, Samuel, Mary Reynolds, Ian, Norma, Mr. Pritchard, Luke, Goddard, Bernice, Polly, Rakel, Felida, Ansel, Jalin, Kat and The Beast. Although we have not seen Bernice, Rakel and Ansel. They are just mentioned in the movie.
When this trilogy started in 2000, its first movie Unbreakable was a superhero thriller film. And then 17 years later in 2017, its loose sequel Split was made. This was not the superhero movie but a super villain psychological thriller movie. And at the end in 2019 its last movie Glass released. This movie has direct connection to the 2000's Unbreakable and 2017's Split. This movie ends Eastrail 177 trilogy and starts a new story. Maybe some of you thinking that what is Eastrail 177? So let me tell you that it was the name of the train which met accident in the very first movie. The accident was the main reason of this whole trilogy.
Villain
The second best thing of a superhero movie is its villain. So this trilogy's last movie has a super villain which is a surprise in its own. Dr. Ellie Staple has direct connection to the government's higher authority. She runs a 10,000 years old secret organization called Clover Organization. This organization just maintain the secrecy of its self and it's workers. To maintain the secrecy they can kill the superhumans like them too. They just not kill them but they give a chance first. They try to realize them that they are not special, not superhuman. They convince so effectively that for some moments Kevin starts thinking that Dr. Ellie is right.
PHILOSOPHY
Movie expresses many philosophies if you closely observe it. If humans can't understand something they call it dangerous. For example if Aliens come, first everyone will be act like it is a danger. From many philosophies of this movie my favorite is: "if someone can do extra than its ability which makes him special, we call it a disorder." For example, there are many people in this real world which can bear electricity of high voltage. This is an amazing power. Not everyone can do that. But we call it a disorder too. A rare skin disorder.
There are hundreds of superhumans in our real world. For example, There is a blind man which can see. Yes! He can do echolocation like bats. Another example of real life Superhero is that there exist a man who ran more than 560km nonstop without sleep. Non only this, in nineteenth century there was a man called Oofty Gofty. He never felt pain. Even in a book called "THE BARBARY COAST (An Informal History of The San Francisco Underworld)" is written
Asbury went on to claim that, in 1891, John L. Sullivan struck Oofty across the back with a billiard cue, fracturing three vertebrae, and that Oofty walked with a limp the rest of his life because of it.
He never felt pain on that.
Im not saying that someone is immortal. Everyone will die. But I am just saying that if someone can do more than his abilities we call it a disorder. For example, in case of Oofty Gofty, he has Congenital Disorder (Insensitivity to pain).
CLOSER TO THE REALITY
This trilogy is closer to the reality by keeping in mind the real life incidents. Specially for superhumans power this trilogy is closer to the reality. This trilogy showed how realistic a superhero can be.
INSPIRED
We feel inspired after watching some movies. For example, when I watched Iron Man 1, I felt inspired that this could happen in real life. Iron Man suit can be made in real life. Same inspiration came from this Eastrail 177 trilogy. Hundreds of people are facing Dissociative Identity Disorder. Many people are super intelligent and masterminds. Because this happens in real life.
MY THOUGHTS
We can't say that we are living in world with no superhuman. Here this trilogy showed us its mastery. Amazing twisted endings of movies still work. Split and Unbreakable are the extremely grounded origin stories, just like Joker (2019). This trilogy is ahead of time. Movies of future. Marvel and DC can't make this type of stories. This trilogy showed us different face of superheros. Not everytime the world is in danger. Sometime your own speciality can create problems for you.
If you have not watched this trilogy. Hey, bro just go and watch. Highly recommended. And if you like my article then
Thanks. 😊
