I am not only saying this but I accept it as true that Marvel movies are dangerous. The creator, writer, director and executive producer of Amazon Prime's series The Boys gave a statement that specially the MCU movies are dangerous. Initially I took this statement in a light way then I realized that this statement is not completely wrong.
Although every marvel movie individually have a good message but if we see its all movies' graph overall then it will be clear that they are giving the message that Heroes are good unconditionally. They always help others without personal benefits. This thing is good too, as they inspire people that anyone can be a hero. But there comes another point and that is
They made people dependent
They made people dependent upon someone. They will always think that someone will come to help them. The Boys series it self is not so perfect but this series collectively mocks DC and Marvel both. For example, "the girls get it done" scene has direct resemblance with Endgame's female team up scene. The Boys series' producer and screen writer Rebecca Sonnenshine said that the female team up scene in Endgame is looks like it is added forcefully. According to her, it was unnecessary to show entire female superheros' team up scene just to save spidey.
Are Superheros really gonna save you?
Another point to discuss is "Are superheros gonna save you?". It is dangerous that from a decade the things Marvel showing us developed a taste of Superhero Movies in the cinema market. Now if someone show us different thing, we don't like it.
Disney just know the recipe of a movie to be hit. Did you ever noticed that Marvel don't show us what we have seen already but they show us what we want to see. And actually it is not good because it feels like dopamine that we just want what we want.
Reality
If we look in our reality there is no one who is selfless helping the others. They say they are social workers doing social work. Not even the politicians who claim they are. If we talk about some major social workers of our countries then politicians will be on top. People of that country become dependent on their political leaders. They think their leaders will do something for them. They see them as saviour. They will save them in a catastrophic conditions. But what actually they do ?
Similarly Marvel showed their heros as saviours. Whatever the situation will be, they will come to save everyone without caring their own lives. But what actually they do if they exist? Just don't think someone will come to rescue you if fall in a problem.
Now this is not only about the entertainment of fans but its about money. Marvel planed 4 movies and Sony planed 2 marvel movies for the year 2020 but due to corona they delayed it. And in 2021 Marvel plans to release 4 movies too.
Want More Mentality
Personally I like Marvel and want more movies too but sometimes I feel that this too excessive. Movies are coming, disney plus series, animated series and tv series too. This want more mentality is not good. Popularity of MCU is increased so much in the fans that if someone tries to criticize any movie of MCU its fans start abusing that person. But these crazy amature fans are just limited with MCU. The very next movie of Robert Downey Jr after Endgame is became a flop movie. Where are the Iron Man fans ? Although they always say that "we don't even imagine any other actor as Iron Man other than RDJ". Now where the hell are you guys? Where is your "love you 3000" gone?
Real Heroes
After all the discussion, to whom we should call Hero then? To me it is a subjective thing. For everyone the definition of Hero, with the time, changes. For example, people believe Doctors are heros and when that doctor become greedy then same people abuse them too. So the definition of Hero for someone, changes with the time.
Whomever you think is Hero, just remember one thing... Don't rely on anyone. Don't think someone will come to save you. No one will come to save you other than your family. Heroes look amazing in movies irrespective of the studio. It feels good when someone stand for you. But in real life no one is ready to lose this much for an unknown person. No one is working selfless in this real world.
Although MCU movies individually have great messages but overall their Cinematic Universe feels over saturated. This thing might be not good in the future because now anyone can say how disney movies are and mcu movies are by guessing. When people start judging the taste of the movie accurately (not story) then this thing is bad for that studio.
Recently, The New Mutant is floped but I am happy they changed their taste. Comics never stay same personality of the hero. Sometime they Captain America as a Hero then in the other comic they show that even Captain America can do bad decision too. That's why I like comics more than movies.
No one is talking about the movies like V for Vendetta which actually gives a social and political messages. This movie actually talks about serious topics like fear, government oppression, mass surveillance and censorship. This type of movies show a different meanings of Heroes. It tells that if you give superiority to someone then they will do whatever they want.
What MCU is doing is Ok, but being this much pessimistic is not good. Be a realistic after watching all these things. Don't just blindly follow someone.
What do you think about these? let me know in the comments. If you like this article then
Thanks 😊.
If I will acknowledge these points of yours, then I might as well say that nearly all movies released for the past 100 years are dangerous. I hope you will also point out that "The Boys" TV series is also dangerous because as a fan of both franchises (MCU and The Boys), they actually show some dangers. But then, almost all movies are.
