Due to shortfall of electricity, load shading started now a days in my country. Same thing happened last night while we were having dinner. I said some bad words for government and stopped eating while my father continued eating. He told me about how they used to live in a village without electricity and vehicles. He was talking about almost 50 years back. As I live in an underdeveloped country so there was no electricity in rural areas 50 years back. He was praising that simple life. How they used to grow their own vegetables and wheat. I started arguing about the benefits they had then vs we have now. Although the discussion had no results but it made me think about the people who used to live more than 100 to 500 years ago. It was unfair to compare our life with an ordinary people living 500 years ago. So I compared it with the Kings. After comparing our life with the King's life who lived 500 years ago I came to a result that we still have advantages over them. As I live in asia the only king I know was from Mughal emperor in 1800's. These are 10 reasons we live better than a King.

#1 Hot and Cold Water

We live in an era where we can easily avail cold water to drink and hot water to take a bath. But this was not easy always. In Mughal empire they used to bring ice from Himalayas and then store it in some type of special chambers. But still they were not able to store for many days. Having a cold water was a luxury which only affordable by Kings but after facing difficulties to bring ice from Himalayan mountains to their palaces.

#2 Fridges and Storages

Today we have fridges where we can store vegetables, meat, mill and fruits for days or even weeks. But in Mughal empire they have to kill animals each day to eat fresh meat. Most of the time a lot of their meat and vegetables were used to spoil. They had many employees for each specific purpose. Now a days it is easy to have a fresh chilled milk but 300 years ago Kings had to wait for a single glass of chilled milk.

#3 Air Condition and Sleeping Habits

Today we have warm blankets, soft and relaxable mattresses and even electric blanket for the winter. For the summer, even in severe heat we have AC to be relaxed. Even in 40°c we enjoy AC in our house. But again this blessing was not available for the KINGs.

There were no AC in the past, so their palaces was not as cool as we have now. They need special engineers to build a Palace in which the flow of air would be maximum to the rooms. And then using other engineer techniques the cool down that air flow but not as cool as we have now. In the winter they used a lot of torches to get their palace a little bit warmer.

#4 Travel

Today we can travel anywhere anytime in the world, all you need is a visa. For example from Karachi (where I live) to Dubai is about 1200km and we can travel in just 2 hours. But if Mughal Kings or any other kings wanted to travel this far then they had to prepare for months or even years before the travel. Even for a 1000km travel, it took months and they had to stay many times before reaching the final destination. A lot of servants were required to carry food, clothes, and other necessary things. During the travel they had no toilet too. But now a days you only need a visa and you can travel in aeroplane in which you can have better food and toilet than Mughal Kings.

#5 Basic Education

This is an internet era. We can avail any information we want. Huge numbers of physical and digital books we have. Although paper was already invented but the problem was that they write each book by hand. That's why each book was expensive and limited which only can affordable by elite class and Kings. But again those books and knowledge was limited. Most of the Kings was illiterate too.

#6 Medicine

If you have any type of disease like diabetes, heart issues, headache even cancer, you have a specialist doctor for each disease. But during Mughal empire they didn't have these facilities. Most of their wives were used to die while giving birth to a baby or after the birth. Now a days due to modern science and medicine this rate has fallen to zero or near to zero.

#7 Food

Want to eat Chinese food? Japanese Sushi? American burger or Italian pizza? There you have it. In a single city or sometime even in single restaurant you can avail all these things in a matter of minutes. Not only this but if you try to eat a single food per restaurant per day then you will need more than one life to complete all restaurants in just a single city. You can have any fruit in whole 12 months without its season. Having these types of variety food was just a wish of a King even they wouldn't had any type of fruit without its season.

#8 Entertainment and Electricity

Now a days you have Youtube, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney plus and dozens of streaming services and you can whatever you want, whenever you want. But back then they don't have this facility. Kings used to plan an event where most of the musician, singers and dancers were invited. They had to plan an event in order to listen some music and watch a girl dancing. It means they had to wait for that event. On the other hand you just click on your smart phone screen or press a button of your remote to get all these information.

Not only this, want to wash clothes ? Turn on washing machine. Want to watch entertainment? Turn on tv. Want to heat food? Turn on oven. Want to read? Turn on computer. In short, electricity made our life easier than ever which can only be imagined by the KINGs back there.

#9 Communications

We are in an era where information can be given to far distant countries in seconds. We can use email, Facebook, twitter or even WhatsApp. But back then they used letters. Which sometimes delivered in months. During the war no queen had information about her king whether he is alive or died in that war.

Now you can call anyone anytime. Not only can talk to someone but you can watch them as well through video call.

#10 Information

Today a kid can have much more information than a King back there. You can check weather report before going to somewhere. You can have information about the market, Education institutes. Living in a single city you can have information about the world. This type of information only can be imagined by Kings back then.

• First: I am not showing that we don't any problem. We have many problems too. I just wanted to make you think that there is much things our lives has given us. So we have to appreciate our life. We are many many times better than a King.

• Second: This article shows that how science and technology made our lives so far better and easier. So this trend should be continued. Science is the only way to progress more.
