A Word Of Hope

Our Text is Psa. 119: 114

  “You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word”  Are you looking for hope? All the hope you will ever need is found in the word of God. Hope is very important indeed, without hope we are unable to seek the joy and the satisfaction that we need in this world. When you lose everything as long as you do not lose hope then there is a strong possibility indeed to gain back all that you have lost and to have much more, but when you lose hope, then all is really lost.  The bible as a few things to tell us about hope. For instance in Heb. 6: 19, hope is described as a sure and steadfast anchor for the soul. An anchor is a device that gives stability and firmness to a ship to prevent the sheep from drifting away in time of storm, the stronger and firmer the anchor and what it is anchored to, the better it is able to do its job of securing the ship. It is through hope that our regenerated souls are anchored to God. Our hope in God gives us the staying power to remain in Him even when there is massive pressure around us to do otherwise. Rom. 5: 5 assures us that this our hope in Jesus is a hope that does not disappoint us because it is powered by the love of God.  If hope is that important then we need it in high dosage to safely and successfully navigate our path through this life’s journey because this world we live in, is a world that is full of troubles, it is a world that has so many twist and turns that tend to stretch our faith to the limits, and our ability to carry on is determined by the level of hope that we have in God. Therefore we need all the hope we can get, if we are to remain firmly rooted in Christ.  Our text says that the word of God has capacity to offer us the hope that we need. For every one of us children of God, God is our hiding place and shield in times of trouble similar to what we are presently witnessing in our nation and even troubles bigger than what we are seeing presently. In God’s word we find all the hope we need to give us the assurance that God will do just that and much more.  To access this hope therefore we need to deliberately spend time in the word of God and allow the truths we see in the word to renew and to enrich our hope in God thereby resting in Him at times like this and even at times of greater danger and conflict. The word of God therefore is His word of hope for us, get connected to it and receive all the hope you need for now and for the future. Shalom.

1. Father you are the God of hope, thank you for your word which happens to be a rich source of hope for us

2. Father your word is a rich source of hope, may I be enriched more and more in hope as I engage your word daily in Jesus name

3. Father regardless of the situation and the challenges that confront me, my hope in you will not die in Jesus name 4. Father you are my hiding place and shelter in times of trouble, may I never wander away from you in Jesus name 5. Father your word is your word of hope for me, may I forever stay connected to your word in Jesus name
