The mainstream media is part of the problem

One of the problems we are having in Nigeria and most countries in the world today is poor media reportage and the lack of investigative journalism. The journalist will prefer to report what they see on social media rather than do their findings and compile a report. Some of the mainstream media have been compromised, they report only what the government of the day wants them to report.

This has been a problem for many years especially for those who rely on the mainstream media for information, they hardly report things the way they are. Thanks to independent news channels especially those on social media who have little or nothing to lose by reporting the truth

You must have heard about the most recent kidnap that took place in Kaduna when the Fulani herdsmen who have now being baptized "bandits" invaded the federal college of forestry Kaduna and abducted 172 students and staff of the college.

The military claimed to have rescued 142 remaining 30 still in captivity and the mainstream media reported and supported the military saying that the rescued students and staff are receiving treatment at the defense academy hospital which is just a stone throw from the kidnap scene. It is still a mystery how the kidnap which happened around 2 am was carried out successfully for hours despite that the defense academy is just a few meters away. Well, that's a debate for another day.

Sahara reporters came out with their report yesterday, according to them, none of the students has been rescued. The military and the mainstream media gave a false report just to deceive the people as they always do.

During Sahara reporters' interview with one of the students said to have been rescued by the military, she said that nobody was rescued by the military. The military arrived at the school after the Fulani herdsmen had gone and picked those of them that we're lucky to hide during the kidnap exercise, took them to the academy hospital, and told the press that they were rescued from the kidnappers

To what end exactly?

What do they hope to achieve by giving false reports?

Honestly, I think there is more to all these kidnaps than meets the eye, the Nigerian populace is being deceived by the government. the government cannot be exonerated in all these

If insurgency goes on for more than a year, the hand of the government is in it

It has become the case of the more you look, the less you see. The government has never been transparent so the citizens have lost trust in them. We don't know what to believe anymore. We can believe any other report but that of the government and the mainstream media.

Cuddles to Sahara reporters and other private and independent news channels for saying it the way it is and it's only when journalists go into investigations and report things the way they are that we can know the truth and know how to solve our problems
