The rate at which the prices of goods and commodities rise in the markets these days is so alarming, I can't believe that I bought a bag of cement at #4,000 I'm Tuesday, only to go back for more in two days time and bought it for #4,400.
I got really possed off when I was told the new price, I regreted not buying more the first day I bought.
So after buying the cement, I waited at a block industry close by watching the labourers as they mould the blocks. While I was watching, one of the labourers who used to work in the block industry came into the scene
He used to be one of the labourers at the industry before he got a huge contract to mould blocks for a building in his village. He was able to get the contract because he presented himself as a block dealer, he called it "packaging"
The first thing he did was to express shock and disappointment that his friend who had worked in the industry even before he joined was still working there looking so dirty and unkempt
He started telling his friend to stop presenting himself to people as a labourer rather he advised him to package himself and present himself as a block dealer, his reason being that people won't value a mere labourer and they won't consider him for any serious job
He went further to tell a story of another friend of his who was also a labourer but kept telling people that he's a contractor.
Someone hired him as a contractor to build his mansion. Since he's not a qualified contractor, but he had building experience so he went and employed the best brains for the job.
After completing the project, someone else saw it and was impressed and asked to meet the contractor. He continued getting recommendations upon recommendations until he became a renowned and successful contractor.
If the young man had continued telling people that he's a labourer, no one would have given him such an opportunity that brought him to limelight and changed his life for good
After listening to the story I was able ro relate to what the young man was saying, sometimes in life you have to package yourself well for people to value you
You don't have to always expose your weaknesses or not-so-good side to people; they might feel a momentary pity for you but that's all you'll ever get from them. They'll hardly get you involved in serious things. That's human being for you
If you want to get people's attention and have worth in their eyes, you have to package yourself very well
