At some point, Filipinos might be poor when talking about money but rich in family values. They believed that family should always come first before anyone else.

In other countries, when a person reaches the age of 18, he or she can leave the family with his or her parents.

But in the Philippines, Filipinos valued family, especially when their parents were getting old. Most Filipinos choose to live with their parents after marriage and choose not to abandon them.

And here are the 3 amazing reasons why:

1. Filipinos love comfort.

Even after marriage, they always wanted their old parents to live with them and still prepare their favorite foods. One of the common traits of a Filipino is that, while becoming an adult, they live with their parents, which is what they call a home.

A place where they can feel safe with their parents nearby.

So abandoning them would alter what they used to do when they grew up.

  1. Filipinos should support and help each other.

Filipinos know that living with their elderly parents is another difficult journey for them.

But in returning the favor to their parents, they chose not to abandon them because they should take care of their parents as they were taken care of while growing up.

They always feel guilty for neglecting or abandoning their parents because of what their parents did for them.

As a result, Filipinos assist one another regardless of whether their parents are getting older or have already suffered from illness.

Filipinos aren't shy about helping their elderly parents, as it is a symbol of their respect and gratitude to them.

And the last amazing reason...

3. Because of love.

This is one of the amazing traits of a Filipino. They are not just family-oriented, but they value family so much. They always believed that having their parents, who guided and taught them while growing up, was a sacrifice they always wanted to reciprocate.

Most Filipinos love their parents,

and their love to their parents knows no age.

Filipinos are more than what you’ve heard, what you’ve read on the Internet, or what a foreign friend has told you.

And I'm proud to say that I'm Filipino.
