Many people with Solomon are left out as unnecessary. Those who can't afford to work have their hands cut off. Luckily Solomon survives and is put to work.
While working, Solomon once found a precious red diamond. Solomon hid it and kept it for himself.
A smuggler named Danny Archer finds out about the diamond. He tactfully seeks the diamond in his hand and at the same time offers Solomon to visit his family. Solomon's family is lost in an attack.

Jimmo Unsur's role as Solomon was strong and important enough. DiCaprio was nominated for an Oscar for this movie. Jennifer Connelly also did well as a journalist.
