There's a lot that happened during this pandemic that causes some terrible tragedies, problems, and rapid growth of poverty. The whole world is suffering from this virus which limits people's way of living. It's been a year since it has begun and still on the run. However, the current news said that there are already vaccines to fight this virus and many countries had already started their mass vaccination.

Due to the effects of this pandemic, specifically in the economy of each country, some are greatly affected. Moreover, in this coming Christmas season, this situation has also a great effect on the yearly tradition. Some people decided to let this season pass as a normal day but others are trying to find a way to at least celebrate the Christmas season even in the simplest way.

Is it needed to be celebrated or is it just a mere tradition that can be skipped over and saved for another year? This situation brings a lot of confusion. It seems that the real essence of Christmas has been forgotten already.

What is the story behind this?

Christmas is a celebration of remembering the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God who died on the cross to bring us salvation from our sins. The name Christmas comes from the Mass of Christ. A mass service that is sometimes called Communion or Eucharist. The words accumulated are Christ-Mass, then later on shortened to Christmas.

Why is it that we should celebrate it?

For the love of God to us, he gave us his only begotten son, who died on the cross in exchange for our salvation. Christmas celebration is remembering what God had done for us because of his love. It is time that we should understand Jesus' teachings and reflect on them. This is to celebrate that we have a God that is loving, full of compassion, and forgiveness.

Does this celebration is all about buying new clothes, new shoes, exchanging gifts, and envelopes with money?

The essence of Christmas is to give love, forgive, and repentance. All of those things that we are giving and receiving during Christmas is a symbol of our love for each other and there is nothing wrong with that. We just have to bear in our minds and hearts the real meaning of Christmas.

It can be celebrated without a feast set on our tables. It is not necessarily. All that matters is we have each other, safe and sound, that is always thankful for what we have today with Christ in our hearts.
