Tree Planting
What would it be like to live in a world where heat from the sun freely consumes us? A world where there is no gigantic, splendid trees, being the soothing music to our ears and the dancing fairies to our eyes? How do you think can people go farther without having any air to breath? Internationally, deforestation in the Brazili continues to rise. On the other hand, Philippines lost almost 63.7kha of tree cover as of 2020. How can we people be the answer to this timely and alarming problem?
Tree-planting is the process of transplanting tree seedlings, generally for forestry, land reclamation, or landscaping purpose. It differs from the transplantation of larger trees in arboriculture, and from the lower cost but slower and less reliable distribution of tree seeds. The value and purpose of tree planting is enormous and it is clearly vital for environment, wildlife and human health.
Trees planting helps to combat global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide, removing and storing carbon while releasing oxygen back into the air. They also reduce wind speeds and cool the air as they lose moisture and reflect heat upwards from their leaves. It’s estimated that trees can reduce the temperature in a city by up to 7°C. Other environmental benefits include the fact they help to prevent flooding and soil erosion, by absorbing thousands of litres of stormwater.
From birds and insects, to bats and squirrels, trees provide a canopy and a habitat for many species of wildlife. But they don’t just act as a home for wildlife; the fruits from trees provide food for them too. The more tree is being planted, the more species of animals are given a place to live and a food to eat.
Trees help to improve air quality by intercepting and trapping dust and other pollutants from the air. The shade of trees also provides a useful barrier to harmful ultra-violet radiation from the sun. But it’s not just our physical health that benefits, our mental health does too. When surrounded by trees or taking part in nature-based activities, stress and depression levels can be significantly reduced.
Franklin D. Roosevelt rightly said, 'A nation that destroys its soils, destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.' Trees are indspensible for man. We can't live without trees, therefore, planting trees is not efficient way to aid the world where trees are slowly vanishing.
Have you tried tree planting yourself? It's just a simple thing which can be done at your backyard. Let's all save this world together!
