Lots of illegal logging
I can't understand why there is still illegal logging, when nature gives its beauty, why there are still people who only destroy and care about their own ego.
Lately, I often read news about illegal logging in the newspapers, I honestly feel sad and sad. We as humans should participate in preserving and protecting nature.
Maybe indeed we think the forest is so vast, and if it is cut down a little it will not decrease, but that's what makes them not aware, because humans are sometimes filled with greed and dissatisfaction, there are so many consequences that will occur,
The impacts of illegal logging include:
Loss of soil fertility causes the soil to absorb too much sunlight so that it becomes very dry and arid. Until the nutrients in the soil easily evaporate. In addition, rain can wash away the remaining nutrients from the soil. Therefore, when the soil has lost a lot of nutrients, reforestation becomes difficult and cultivation on the land becomes impossible.
Decreased water resources are also part of the impact of illegal logging because trees greatly contribute to maintaining the water cycle through tree roots absorbing water which is then flowed into the leaves, then evaporated and released into the atmosphere. When trees are cut down and the area becomes arid, there is nothing to help the soil absorb more water, thereby ultimately leading to a decrease in water resources.
The loss of biodiversity, even though tropical forests are only 6% of the earth's surface but about 80-90% of species are in it. As a result of illegal logging carried out on a large scale there are about 100 species of animals declining every day, the biodiversity of various areas is being lost on a large scale.
It causes flooding because the forest that functions as a water absorber cannot absorb and store large amounts of water when heavy rains occur.
So I think it's better for us to participate in preserving nature, so that in the future there will still be a lot of natural beauty that can be seen by all of our children and grandchildren, if we are going to do something about nature, it is better to think a thousand times about what the consequences will be.
