Villanous Pandemic

“Kowaguro Koto Nante Nani Mo Nai.” A Japanese which means “There is nothing to fear.” This was like stain of blood that silently rested in the palm of my hands telling that I should wash this stain, this fear away and keep my hands together. Then I realized it was the evil called pandemic that had stolen lives of creatures that brought stains of blood called fear.

Last March 23, 2020, an unknown writer had posted her words about COVID 19 and that made me shiver for she had found out that the said pandemic is a mystery. Without much commotion, I seized my Bible in my closet and started tracing the second letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians, 1:9 as what the writer had shared. Everything was in a slow motion when a gentle wind whispered in my left ear, “We felt that the death sentence had passed on us. But this happened so that we should rely, not on ourselves, but only on God who raises the dead.”

Pandemic doesn’t mean death. It means fear that kills one’s soul, losing its faith in Him. People are not really sick. They are actually blind for they could not even see the truth. For they only see what is visible to their eyes--- money, wealth, pride, and power. They are physically strong but their souls are dying. Their minds were occupied with the expression “I am more than God.” But how long are we going to be blind for we could not even call His name? Death is now with us, but why are we still hungry of money? Why do we need to seek liquors and cigarettes in order for us to be relieved? Are all these enough for us to be saved?

In this chaotic land, there is tranquility. But in order for us to achieve that, we need to observe social distance. Be like the lone moon that stands out even in darkness. Close our eyes as we put our hands together and fix our red strings with God for the most beautiful things in life are meant to be felt by the heart through the best healer--- the words of God.
