I wanted to paint smile on my face, but years in my eyes did fall.
Swiftly faced my reflection and plead my smile, “They say that a smile is an insignia that an individual is exultant. But why do they smile even if they feel misplaced, wrecked, and unwanted? Why do they always look for you when they’re miffed? Is it conceivable to be happy even if you’re actually not? Why do they always hide their real emotions? Smile, are you two-faced mask that can be worn to escape veracity? Do you make people strong even if they are fooling themselves like a magic trick? Are you one of adhesive bandages that cloak wounds of agony of people? Why do they always seek for your relief? Are you not tired too of being surreal? I think you are the sweetest lie that a person could wear.”
The smile retorted, “I am not the veracious one to be blame of. It is true that a smile is a sign of happiness. But we all know that everything has a purpose. Just like the tongue, a smile has a different palate. In today’s world, people are wearing the bitter smile just to hinder the pain to growl. Just like you, they have reasons why they always smile despite of their wounds that won’t be healed. Sometimes, a single smile can change a person’s life. You have no idea how powerful a smile is whether it is sweet or bitter. Some use this tool to save those who wanted to end their lives. It is alright to show your real feelings. If you are hurt, you cry. If you want to escape, run. But you should not sojourn on the pedestrian lane. Wait for the green light. Do not crate yourself from being indignant, of feeling void. Deal with those feelings with those feelings but it is always in your hands to take yourself up. Linger to live until you find the real gist of happiness, until you splatter the sweetest smile. Indeed, a sweet smile is like a four-leaf clover, propitious to have but hard to find. No matter how hard it is, always find the reasons to smile, to be happy.”
