Always take pride in taking selfies and pictures in your high school graduation album photos. When you fall into the emotion-defining mentality, you forget that emotions always pass by superficial things that are not important. Emotional diversity shows that emotions come and go. It's okay if you're angry now. Not in a few hours. If you're happy right now, your next fight is just around the corner, so enjoy it. It's okay if you feel guilty or sad. This will take time sooner or later. So the question is, how do we begin to diversify our emotional lives? Becoming an Emotional Ninja The first step to greater emotional diversity: simple self-awareness. Become aware of and accept what you are feeling when you feel it. It seems too simple to be silly. But you may find that if you've denied your particular emotion long enough, it literally stops recognizing when you feel it.
