Phoebe Cooper and Jimmy Jackson separated from the rest of the team to survey the west side of the forest. Jimmy Jackson felt uncomfortable. All he wanted was to have his complete and uninterrupted sleep, and also work with the rest of the team when he would have woken fully. But Phoebe, who had always been too enthusiastic about finding something out could not wait for the rest of the team to get themselves out from their tent . As early as 5am, Phoebe was all set. She wore her backpack, put on her jungle hat and woke Jimmy up so he could join her on her search. Jimmy wanted to refuse, but he just couldn’t. He was too weak and fragile to stand up to her. So he agreed to embark on the search with her feeling angry. "Phoebe! Why not wait till sunrise? I can't go any further, my head isn't here" Jimmy said. His eyes were half-closed, and his head nodded and wiggled at every step he made.
"So bring your head back here!" Phoebe yelled without paying him any attention. Her right hand held a remote sensing while the left hand held a book. She stopped walking and looked forward. The morning sun had not fully spread its light to brighten the day but the little light that announced the break of dawn was enough for Phoebe to see the large cave behind the large grasses and clusters of dry coconut trees. Her remote sensing had lead her to the cave.
"Alright, we've seen a cave" Phoebe smiled and said.
"That's very good, let's go back and tell the others we have seen a cave that we haven't excavated yet" Jimmy said in relief. "Now I'm free to go back to my bed" he turned to leave but Phoebe grabbed him by his shirt drew him back.
"We're going in there to check it out."
"What?!"
The cave looked old. It was littered with vines and fallen leaves, even the entrance of the cave had dozens of vines in rows that looked like a curtain to the cave. Phoebe went though it gently while Jimmy was looking around with a mixed feeling of confusion and fright. As they went in, they noticed that the cave was very dark and silent save for the chirping of insects and the rustling of dry leaves by the cool morning air. She pulled her backpack to the front, put in the note and brought out a hand torch to see through the dark.
"Why don't we go and call the rest that we found a cave which the remote sensing proved an artifact would be found in? Then they can come along and excavate" Jimmy said.
Wait a little, I need to be sure about this place" she said.
"But the remote sensing had made us sure enough."
She stepped further into the cave and saw a faint imprint on the wall. It looked like a wide dot. A half centimeter beside it was another faint wide dot and another one which was a quarter centimeters below the one that followed. As she looked at the painting she saw a faint bow shape under the three dots, she removed a hard hand brush and scrubbed the wall where the imprints were made gently. To her surprise, it turned out to be an imprint of something with a semblance of a palm of the hand. But it looked very much slender, with long but only three fingers.
"Jimmy! Come and see this!"
"What the hell is that?"
"Now let's go and tell the others! Quickly!" She put her remote sensing into her backpack and dragged Jimmy's hand and they left the cave.
Dr. Joseph Schuman led the team to the cave with Phoebe and Jimmy, he looked around the walls, taking notes of any imprints.
"Dr. Schuman, look! Over there!" Phoebe pointed, directing Dr. Joe's Attention to the place the strange palm imprint.
"What's this?" He ran his finger slowly and softly around the design. The teams started excavating at every point their remote sensing gave signal.
"Look! I've found something!" Bobby said. Phoebe and Dr. Schuman ran to the area towards Barry to see what he has found. They saw some dirty bone from the shallow small hole that they dug earlier.
"It is a femur and a jaw" Barry said. "It looks old."
"Look! A bone too" A blond lady said. Dr. Schuman and Phoebe turned to the far right and saw the Blond lady bring out another bone.
"A broken piece" Dr. Schuman said as he went close to it and felt it. "It has a light weight, a deep base."
"And there are more over here" Barry said picking pieces of bones from the area which he had excavated.
Dr. Schuman sighed, "Listen up guys, pick up everything and bring them down the tent. They found yet another fascinating thing on the roof. At the top of the cave was a silhouette of a head and a shoulder but the rest of the body was hidden into the dark roof of the cave where neither the light of the day nor the lamps of the crew could possibly illuminate. Unknown to the crew, the silhouette silently watched as they excavated and took the pieces of bones with them out of the cave.
