I recently found out that a version of Happy Birthday has been created that 'only cats and dogs can hear'. So I decided to check it out!
After research had shown that a whopping 73% of owners celebrated their pet's birthday it was perhaps inevitable that a petcentric version of the world's favorite birthday tune would become a thing.
A UK business Natures Menu added a few squeaky toy noises, barks and meows accompanied by a catchy drum beat so that our furry friends can join in on their big day celebrations.
High frequency noises inaudible to humans were also thrown into the mix.
Early indications showed a varied reaction from both cats and dogs. Reactions that included dog's ears pricking up and looking for the squeaky toy. Feline reactions differed and some cats were said to have looked at their owners like they had 'lost the plot'.
This quirky idea proved both a hit and miss with my personal test subjects.
My dog really went for it and seemed to pick up on the hidden vibes. My cat was a little more bemused and aside from the initial play, now offers both myself and the dog a withered look of resignation every time we decide to give the tune airtime.
It's a nice, cool idea, FREE to listen to and may offer pets and owners a bit of momentary fun.
Owners that want to potentially add a quirky twist to their pet's birthday celebration can check out the tune here.
